Robinson; poor game (why do managers treat new players like new toys?)

Lee - 1 good run which had me half excited. Fell over the ball though when put through on goal.

 

Knight - won a few headers as you'd expect but looked shakey and was given the run around by sunderlands forwards.

 

Ricketts - average. not as good as Steinnson.

 

Robinson - wasn't too impressed really. not as good as J Lloyd.

 

Davis - didn't get into the game. could've been the hero at the end though.

Lee - touched the ball 3 times. We need to pass the ball to him if we wan't to see the best of him. Showed some intent and looks promising. Too early to judge yet though.

 

Ricketts - Agree with average, but nobody played well so harsh to judge him. good block at the end from bent shot.

 

Robinson - gave 100% but not an improvement. j lloyds pace should give him the start.

 

Davis - Looked decent at times in 1st half. Felt a bit sorry for him. looking for a pass but nobody moving into space. rarely used effectively if the game bypasses him.

 

Knight - Looked uncomfortable at times. Seems to lack confidence with the ball at his feet. too much aimless long balls. Jones is awkward to play against so he'll get the benefit of the douubt for now.

Unfortunately Megson, (and I've been accused as being a defend him at all cost poster) fell into the trap of trying to slot all his new players into the opening day team. It never works! One day Bolton maagers will realise this. Anyone remember going one up at Fulham? Ended up losing about 4 or 5 1!!!! Jay-Jay's debut among others.

Gardner was in a box behind ESL, so fair to assume not fit

Lee - Will take time, but we will have to learn to give him the ball and then get enough players forward to support him.

 

Knight - I just hope it is just a case of taking a couple of games to get used to playing with Cahill

 

Robinson - Did Ok but think Samuel is a better option

 

Ricketts - Confidence seemed to drop as the the game wore on.

Completely agree about not learning about throwing in so many new players, at the end 6 of the outfield 10 were making their debut, Knight should have been the only one of the new ones that started. It's only one game, so wouldn't change too much next week, probably just the one, replace McCann as he is not a wide midfield player.
