August 17, 200916 yr It would appear that 90% or so of my PC's physical memory is being used up, just whilst surfing the net: not downloading anything, just surfing. Why is this? And how to alleviate it? PS Fucktards need not respond.
August 17, 200916 yr I've got the same problem. Every day I get a message informing me I have low disk space and asking if I want to clean up unnecessary files. This frees up a bit of space. I haven't got any programs on and can't understand what is taking up all the space. Getting a lad at work to look at it this week, so may be able to help you then.

August 17, 200916 yr Increase/decrease the size of your swap file. No idea if this is possible on Vista like.
August 17, 200916 yr Which AV do you use? Some AV's utilise loads of memory. If you're disk is partitioned, then put the page file on the other partition than the one with windows on.
August 17, 200916 yr Av is Avast. I'm not sure what that second bit meant. put avast on mine recently, mine comes up with the same now and then.not on vista though.
August 19, 200916 yr Avast makes mine go really sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow at times particularly switching between applications. Shouting at the telly does not work. It will freeze, the CPU thingy monitor goes to heart attack level and the avast globe starts whirling round for a few seconds, I get the physical memoery thing, fuck it off, then the clot then moves to somewhere else in the machine and it all goes back to normal. So whats this partitioning thing? Is it timber or steel framed?

Trafs problem is memory related (dealing with programs and calcuations on the fly). Yours is disk space, where everything is stored (you've got lots of large files or a small disk). Think of it as your filing cabinet being full of letters at home. You've either got to throw some out to free up space, or get a bigger filing cabinet to put some more in.
August 23, 200916 yr Author It seems to be Firefox causing the issues. I don't get the same problems running IE.
