Tapping Up Players

Crewe have reported a unnamed Prem club for making an approach for a young player, apperently this lad was 15 an turned round and told Crewe he wanted to leave for a "big club"

After the Chelski incident do you think we are going to see more of these stories appearing

Previously small clubs would've thought 'we don't like it but there's fuck all we can do about it' folling this ruling i think more will chance their luck and it'll dissuade the big boys from trying anything naughty

Correct :good:

But i thought Crewe where a "feeder" club to Liverpool anyway, did they not have some kind of agreement between themselves a few years ago

simple way around it, just make "tapping up" a perfectly legal thing to do. It can happen in every other walk of life, so I don't see why it shouldn't happen in football

It's been going on since professionalism started.

There was a massive uproar in the 1890's/1900's when Bolton amongst others started bringing Scottish players down to play for us. They were amateurs, of course, but the club found them well paid jobs that involved little/no work.

Sluffy or George may be able to confirm.

well paid jobs that involved little/no work.

it could be argued, that is no different to todays modern footballer

This should be fun, Tappergate! bring it on!
