FIFA have said it's not going to be introduced to football in the foreseeable future

 

Surely anything that will lead to fair decisions, help the decision-makers, and stop doubts and controversy has to be a good thing?

 

There are different opinions [YES or NO] for this subject.

 

It will take a simple solution to tell if the ball had gone over the line or not, like in Ice Hockey with the siren or maybe just use video.

 

Some say we should just rely on linesman and that football is not a science and it creates talking points, but how many times do we see goals not given incorrectly?

 

Remember Gerry Taggart 'goal' v Everton that went a foot over the line, the season we got relegated?

 

Just this week, Birmingham [i think Ridgewell] scored a goal when 2-0 down that was well over the line and that wasn't given.

 

Sometimes they get it correct, Lee's goal against Burnley could of been one of those mistakes, but thankfully the linesman gave the goal.

 

What happens if a goal is scored in the World Cup final and not given, sometimes it's just guess work, the technology is there to be used, i'm sure it won't take to much time out of the game.

 

Don't think video technology for things like the Thierry Henry vs Rep.Ireland should be introduced, but goal line technology will stop the mistakes and if it's a goal then it should be a goal.

The technology is there and is used well in other sports. I've said for years that I would agree with technology that merely indicated whether the ball crosses the line or not. Be it camera's or a sensor in the ball that indicate to the ref when the ball crosses.

 

But I also believe that it will have to happen to the detriment of a "big club" before something is changed.

 

For example the Spurs goal at UTD a few years ago. If that had been against UTD, there would have been more of an uproar.

 

So it will take either a Stella European club or a world cup being affected, then it will change and not before

Not for me I like it the way it is, nowt better than debating these scenarios in the boozer, human error adds to the whole excitement of football

The idea is good but how far down the football ladder do you go before you stop introducing it and who pays for the installation of the technology?

 

The number of times in a season when it happens is extremley low compared to the actual numbers of goals scored and forget about the spurs goal what about Tagarts goal against Neverton.

Had that been given we would have stayed up that season.

technology for ball over the line but human for everything else ie penalty decisions.

No need for it. Just better officials.

 

Play with a yellow ball, it's easier to see a yellow ball cross a white line between White posts.

Absolutely against it! It would be the first step on a slippery slope towards video technology during open play.

 

If it was only used to ascertain whether the ball has crossed the line in the determination of a goal imagine a scenario where a corner is given wrongly because the ball didnt go out which then leads to a goal where goal line technology rules it has crossed the line. There would then be an argument to introduce the same technology for corners and throw ins.

 

The current system is not perfect but its all part of football.
