August 3, 201015 yr Author just realised the link doesn't work but just go to the bwfc website and its a freeview video
August 4, 201015 yr Phil talks a lot of sense but has seemingly forgot about his rushed appointment of Sammy Lee and the cup ticket debacle. Apart from those two things I think he has done well at BWFC and obviously is aware of the financial constraints on the club and has not taken us down the Leeds Utd road. I personally hope he stays at the club along with Owen for a long time and builds BWFC into a team that regularly finishes in the top half of the PL.
August 4, 201015 yr It is easy to get all gushing over that but I have always held Gartside in high regard and think he has done a terrific job, he's got things wrong but unlike most egocentric chairmen he's man enough to admit it. Particularly liked the reference to Bruce Rioch. I'd take what we've done and the way we've done it over what's going on at that whore of a club Man City any day of the week.
August 4, 201015 yr I'd take what we've done and the way we've done it over what's going on at that whore of a club Man City any day of the week. Wasn't Phil's son quite ill? The club is a lot better off than many due to his work. As regards Sammy Lee, he may have been the wrong man, but it was a case of Phil keeping his word on promising him the manager's job before he came if SA left. Not in itself a bad thing.
August 4, 201015 yr Corporate bollocks like this gets on my tits bigtime anyway. When a company or government department come out and accept they've made mistakes in the past BUT don't actually apologise, it's arrogance of the worst form. Phil has actually called it right himself: "We became a little bit arrogant because we'd had this period of four top-10 finishes and I don't think we connected in the right way". In the real world heads roll, it's that simple. The bloke at the top of BP went for one mistake, despite otherwise being successful. I'm still shaking my head after reading the Carling announcement that Gareth Moores is still here, Mr Gartside is saying one thing and doing another. In politics it's called spin. What's sad is that Phil's record is outstanding and he could be the most popular chairman we've ever had if he didn't surround himself with twats.
August 4, 201015 yr Quality interview, enjoyed that. Put things into perspective and just shows what has hard work has been going on at this club to keep us where we are. Gartside has made some mistakes but him and Eddie deserve a lot of thanks.
August 4, 201015 yr Phil Gartside has done an unbelivable job on the clubs standing and position in world football and I heartily congratulate him for getting Eddie Davies on board as we would not be into our 11th year in the premier league. I am glad he has finally admitted that the club became arrogant and had become disconnected from the main reason BWFC exists and that is the fans, it is also nice to se he has also finally admitted that our style of football has been poor to watch for some years now, something he would not accept when I challenged him at last years BWSA where he refuted my suggestions. I feel this apology has been made on the back of dwindling season ticket sales, I would be very suprised if we have topped 10,000 this year.
