Wernt there a greyhound track on Manny road, going back some years now i think... Must have been only a wee lad...

Never been. But my old man has loads. Think its still going.

Belle vue mon now if I go.

Some boring facts for you. My mother owned Westhoughton Greyound Stadium for around 10 years some time ago. Maurice Lindsay was the leading bookmaker there.

When the Bolton Braves gridiron team went tits up, the Westhoughton Greyhounds AFC was formed but only lasted one season in the BAFL. Pitch in the middle of the track was a quagmire. Would have cost way too much to put the required drainage in and the league were fielding too many complaints from visiting teams about that and the fact they had to change in the kennel barn! Soft b?stards!

Not sure if its still there. Me mam fooked off to Spain off the proceeds of the sale.

thought lindsay was wigan to the core

but he went to thornleigh

Westhoughton greyhound stadium is still up and running, I deliver there every Saturday

Used to go as a lad. It was comedy, I swear you could make a sitcom out of it. Fuck dog racing, it

existed as the medium through which unscrupulous individuals embezzled cash from one another.

Genuine instances I witnessed:

A) The same dog ran three times in one night under different names

B) An owner placed a large bet on a dog (second favourite) which wasn't his own, then fed his own dog (favourite) pie and chips ten minutes before the race

And yes, that cunt Maurice Lindsay had a lot going on down there, without all the details the Dad of a friend of mine once so called 'did the cunt for thousands.' Could be urban myth but I like the sound of it :yahoo:

5 dog flapping track Maggie :D Stuff like that happened all the time. One dog was a perpetual tail ender (called Hy Ro Gear). They brought in a ringer with the same markings who was a bit of a goer from Ireland.

Backed in on the night from 5-1 to odds on and blitzed em by half the length of the track. The ringers trainer was waiting half way round the bend after the finish line; over the wall into a van and fooked off. By virtue of me mams ownership, I listened to the howling of the bookies and the tales of woe afterwards. Always remember the scrutineer bird saying 'I should have twigged. Could never read the markings in the dogs ear very well in the past and suddenly, they were as clear as a bell'.

Maurice wasn't happy

We used to go now and again on Sunday mornings to sober up with a pint and a breakfast, and I swear I've seen alsatians and border collies running there.

I used to take my dogs for all their injections, a fraction of what vets charge.
