Anyone used any companies to fix blocked drains or things of that nature?

Insurance say the work is covered but not the investigation, so need somebody cheap, or free to tell me whats wrong.

cheers in advance for any info.

Are you on a party sewer? If so, how old's your house? If it's over a certain age (and would depend on the water board) you may be able to get them to pay for it on a covenant.

we had water under our house was a real pain.

yorkshire water came out (there is a really long weird story to this, not relevant now but will add at the end). They said as we owned the property we were entitled to one free fix and they sorted it all out, so might be worth ringing local water board, they will have to investigate to show it aint their problem if nothing else.

weird story

we had water under our house from not long after we bought it, got into massive dispute with surveyor saying they should have noticed this etc etc. they produced the small print. when it rained water came up through the drive and poured down the road, not a trickle a real stream.

got a few people to look at it no real idea how to stop it natural under ground spring been like that for years etc etc

turns out all the neighbours had stories aboput cellars flooding when it rained etc etc

one day i get home from work and there is a leaflet from a company called h20 saying they had turned up to fit our water mater, as requested, but could nt due to a leak in the pipe. the thing is we never requested a water meter they can come to the next street along but because of the leak they had contacted yorkshire water who sent a man out to look at it, whilst investigating he accidentally pulled our stopcock off. he did identify a leak which they fixed along with the stop cock and from that day our cellar is drier than a 90 year old slugs fanny when you pour salt on it. so we got our major house problem sorted all because some idiot form h20 could not tell the difference between a street called 'bank' and another called 'road'.

Mine is a 1927 end of terrace. It may be with calling the water board as mine is covered for fresh and foul. Good luck.

I have a leak on my property, who do I need to speak to, to get it repaired?

Where the leak is coming from, will determine whether we can help or whether you need to get your own plumber. Please read through the Private Leak Repair Scheme leaflet.

If you think you are eligible for a United Utilities repair, please call our Service Enquiries department on 0845 746 2200, between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am and 6pm on Saturday, or 8am and noon on Sunday. We will arrange an appointment for one of our representatives to assess the leak.

If we find it is eligible, we will arrange for our contract partner to repair the leak for you.

the point being the assesment they will undertake to see if it their responsibility should be enough to give the insurance company so they can they undertake repair if not covered by water board.

Its more of an ironic name really, as a few people call me big gal as im the older sibling, but my borther is taller than me! An old favorite on here PB aka AS came up with it many moons ago.

Well, yes, er, thanks for clearing that up! I think!
