Anglo Italian Cup...

I was unable to finance myself at the time, but, have memories of walking past Burnden and noticing the billboard for Ancona, have been told (second-hand) tales of Gheorge Hagi gracing our field, didn't we put a cheeky bid in for him at one stage? During the McFarland/Todd season? One selling point was he (Hagi) was 'familiar' with the club, also he'd gobbed on John Aldridge at one point so...

Went to Pisa & the England game by mini bus (beore the days of cheap no frills airlines)

Was a cracking experience to see Bolton on foreign soil for the 1st time.

Went back there a few years later for England game in Rome. Went up to the ground and there was a few folk gathered around & 1 coach turned up. Turned out it was their travel club & they were playing away. Somewhere local as they'd dropped down to the regional leagues.

Spoke to a couple of lads who guessed why we were there & when we said we were from Bolton, they were very complimentary about our support that night.

I remember Pisa fans nipping between the Police segregation & swapping scarfs with Bolton fans. Florence was giving programmes & sweets to the local youngsters.

One of those special nights to be a Bolton fan. I've still got the match poster in my old bedroom at my mam's.

Not suprising as there was more of us that night than them and I seem to remember we did not stop singing all game.

That very famous bald ref, whose name escapes me, reffed at Burnden.

Colina i asked earlier in the thread!

Bollocks to Plodiv, Pisa was our first European Tour (unless we count the Isle of Man tournament) and was a belter of a trip.

Jiminho scoring a 40 yard screamer. Might have been 50 yard, more maybe.

Great following too, sang for the entire 2nd half.

Anyone remember W***y kicking off with the Munich in the ground? :D

Aye, I went to Pisa too. I liberated a poster from a bar in Pisa. On the bus from the airport to Pisa the tour guide pointed out the famous tower and a voice from the back of the bus piped up with "Call that a tower, Luv, tha wants to come to Blackpool". There were some Chelsea fans at the match on their way to the international. I seem to remember they caused a bit of trouble. The locals suffering culture shock by experiencing loads of pissed up Bolton fans singing in the bars. Great trip.

Might be someone else there Biff.

The Chelsea lads 'from Stamford Bridge to Burnden Park' were with us most of the night and we had no trouble at all. They were moving on to San Marino the night after too. The bit of trouble in the ground was when W**** spotted a Munich in our stand (who was travelling with another Bolton fan - again to the England game) and took exception to him. As you do.

There then was a playground type circle of people in our stand in a 'fight fight fight' type scenario that the Italian police found most odd so left well alone.

In fact, for some reason W**** wore a bandana that night. Forgot to remind him about that yesterday. :D
