Taylor has enough pace for what he is good at.

 

David Beckham never had any pace but managed to play at the top level for many years. I'm not comparing them as players but they have simular attributes. Taylor's delivery is quality at times and with pace on the opposite side gives us balance.

 

Not been impressed with Petrov at all so Taylor gets my vote.

Maybe if Taylor would have started at Wembley then we might not have got thrashed, hardly his fault when he comes on with 45 minutes left and 3-0 down.

 

I agree that there are players in the team that aren't good enough, but to just say we are shite because we got battered at Wembley is ridiculous, we had our top scorer playing centre mid for the 2nd time ever alongside a massively out of form Muamba, we may as well not have had a midfield.

 

Don't get me wrong we were utter shite but that was a one off game, and since then the players have basically been playing like the season has finished, and with some of the worst centre mid pairings in the premiership it was a recipe for disaster.

 

I'll say it again, if Taylor plays the full season next season then he will finish with somewhere near 10 goals and a lot more assists to add to that, he is more than good enough for our team. We want to be looking at replacements for our far past it striker, shocking right back and massive lack of decent centre mid's as priority IMO.

I quite fancied taking that Boyata from City in part ex for Cahill but having watched Taylor actually get past him a couple of times yesterday I'm not sure he's the player I thought he was - taylors more than good enough to get a place in our squad and on form starting games regularly.

Lacking pace is fine if you also have solid technique and great delivery. Taylor has neither. He's fine to have in the squad, but he's not a player who is going to take you forward. If your wide player lacks pace, he has to be able to play one-twos or put his foot on the ball and play his way out of trouble. Neither of those things are in Taylor's game either.

 

Taylor runs around, gets into decent space and tracks back. There are worse wide players around, but there are also much better ones. I don't think it's scapegoating Taylor to just be honest about what he can and can't do.

At a guess, home sides attack more so he can run into space when the fullback gets forward. At the 'Bok, Petrov tends to end up with two on him when he gets the ball.

They're average, rather than 'shite'. And we are terrible away. A lot of out players are just 'average', but they're still Premier League standard. As soon as a player hits poor form he's suddenly a Championship player. When they do well, they should play for England or be signed by Utd. Bolton fans for you.
