Matt Taylor Is Lazy?

Quote:

"Action man Matt Taylor Bolton The wide player ran further in one match - Bolton's 4-3 defeat by Blackpool - than any other player in the last two months of the season, covering 9.23 miles. Four more Bolton players ran more than 8.5 miles in the same game as Blackpool ran them ragged."

Television income makes interesting reading too - Newcastle for example

Unfortunately, most of those mile where run in the 'headless chicken' style.

phh 9.23 miles.. I have a 45 year old woman in work who wears a pedometer (i think its called).. she managed 17.3 one day last week..

I like Taylor as a player.. I know a lot of people dont..

would have taylor over Petrov any day of the week

I used to think a pedometer measured how much you like kids, but it doesn't, it just measures how far you chase them.

I'm here all week.

or measured how much perersen ran

If Matt Taylor clocked nine plus miles, and four more did eight plus, but Blackpool stil ran us ragged we have indeed got some lazy fckers.

maybe running around doesnt win football matches.

Bet you could still win the premier league with MOTM appearances ::lol:: ::lol:: ::lol:: ::lol::

At least you brighten up this site buddy.

Taylor was our MOTM at Blackpool but over the season he is just not good enough; always tries unlike Petrov - We need a left sided wingee (but we need new full backs; centre backs when Cahill leaves, central midfield to back up our never present Holden and Mavies, and Stikers to replace Elmander and Sturridge --- whoops forgot the goalkeeper)

I'm not sure anyone thinks Taylor is 'lazy' (I've not seen it said, anyway). He's just not a very talented footballer. His other issue is that he's slow and one-paced with it, which is no good for a wide player. He went through a patch of not running as much, but generally he's willing.

The trouble for Taylor is that the positive sides to his game - willingness to run, great movement, tenacity, good tracking back and aggression - are not what a wide player in a 4-4-2 is on the pitch for. He runs a lot, but doesn't time his runs down the wing well to offer an option. His movement is great, but it's great for finding attacking space; which in a 4-4-2 can draw him out of position and leave Robbo exposed.

A wide player in our system needs to be able to control and retain the ball, then distribute it; or beat his man and get forward. It's a creative role. The tenacity and aggression, with the tracking of runners, is all great stuff and needed, but it doesn't make up for the lack of creativity.

I actually think he did well for us when he arrived and was in a 3 man attack, and I think he'd do a great job for someone else. But he's not suited to our style and will only ever produce the odd good game for us, I think.

Petrov has the opposite issue. He lacks all Matty's good traits and has all the creative ones. If we could put Petrov's feet on Taylor we'd have a quality player. Short of that, time to go shopping.

Taylor's worst fault is his tendency to go backwards when he gets the ball.

Best option we have at the minute, so he should start every week for me.

Can't see coyle getting yet another left winger either

I know; Anewman is quality

We'd have to sell an existing player. If we can, we should.

get her sprinting half the time

you know I ruin you at football, come along friday and I will show you how to play at the bok

Taylor's strength was always popping up with a few goals that won games that shouldn't have been won. Unfortunately he would piss a "near miss/hitting the post/oooooooh that was close Challenge"

Such a damn shame, because if half of those had gone in he'd be a god on here.

But if my auntie had bollocks etc..."

Fuck off over our last 5 defeats Matty Taylor has been our best player. Get off Computers and watch match! Your anger is directed at wrong player!

Fuck 'em, mate. It's just Taylor's turn to be the scapegoat.

Perfectly good left midfielder for me is Taylor. Alright he's not had his best season, but he has hardly had a run in the team due to the arrival of the waste of space Petrov.

Put him back as 1st choice next season and I am sure that with a run of games he would be back up to top form and chipping in with some very important goals and assists.

Just because he isn't lightning quick it doesn't mean that he isn't good enough. With the pace of Lee on the right then Taylor adds a different option on the left and gives some much needed cover to the fullback.

How he gets half the stick that he does is beyond me, some of the goals he has scored in the past few seasons have pretty much kept us up, and his work rate as shown above is 2nd to none.

Agree with this. You don't have to be amazingly quick to play wing, some people just don't have a clue.

When I used to play wing I used to be of average pace, but managed to get Man of the Match every week and barely broke a sweat.

just spat my coffee out.. avarage pace after the match to KFC more like it..

It appaears some fans always have to have a scapegoat, someone in the team who despite the effort cant win across to the fans.. Prime example being Nicky Hunt

There are several players in the Bolton side who aren't good enough not just Taylor. That's why Bolton got thrashed at Wembley by a mediocre team and ended the season with a terrible losing run.Taylor is one of the poor players who aren't good enough.
