DC08WFC Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 With a 6 iron or upwards i strike it well but with the longrr clubs i struggle by eith pushing it or rank duck hooks. What clubs (make/model) do you use?
jules_darby Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 What clubs (make/model) do you use? I do hope you're not going to suggest it's his bats that are the problem
DC08WFC Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 (edited) I do hope you're not going to suggest it's his bats that are the problem Thats exactly what im suggesting, although the swing has alot to do with it, clubs make a big difference. Thats why you can buy game improvement irons for high handicappers and blades/forged clubs for low handicappers aswell as custom fitting. If he's using forged clubs with a stiff flex shaft then he would struggle with longer irons. Edited July 14, 2011 by DC08WFC
jules_darby Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 They make a difference for sure, but not as much as to be the sole reason why he can't hit 3-5 iron etc I've known 28 handicappers whose best shot is a 4 iron blade Horses for courses...
jazza Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I love golf second only to Wanderers I just wish I got to play more regularly now. The lowest I got my handicap to was 12 in 1997, but was capable of playing off at least a couple or three less when I was playing every day. I had just taken voluntary redundancy from my job and had all the time in the World to practice and it was the happiest 4 months of my life... playing golf and generally having a good time (I know... a dosser) Then my dick had to get involved and I got in tow with a wench and that was the job fucked. Within a couple of seasons my handicap was back up to 15 and was playing more like a 18 or maybe higher. Now I play about twice a year and can't play to 24. I still love it though.
worthy10 Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 Been to the range again tonight. Read up on "lag" and it helps my ball striking, cause im leaning into and comprwssing the ball with a 9 & 7 iron. Still struggle to get same consistancy with driver though. It's "driving" me mad!
