I like The trout in Cockermouth It hasn't got a spa and is posh enough without being up it's own arse. The food is top notch too.

 

The Sharrow Bay is very posh and pricey if that's what rocks your boat but is a bit stuffy for me

Wordsworth Hotel in Grasmere.

 

Had a dodgy spell a few years back, but no under new ownership and heading back to its best.

Id go with Jazza, the Sharrow Bay is top of the crop in the Lakes!

As said the Sharrow Bay however one to look at mighht be the Leemings Hotel on Ullswater.

We've been to Pine Lakes in Carnforth a few times. While not strictly a hotel we love it.
