whilst doing a uefa coaching licence i became friendly with a top class ex PL player who told me about his depression and the tales which it made him take, i was almost in tears just listening to him and i wasnt aware of how it happens, and like some have said i have learnt that there is a difference between being sad and being depressed. i feel for anyone who suffers from it and any one who has a loved one who suffers it i really do. I'm good mates with the chap who told me and with more and more players voicing their pain on depression it may come to light who he is and thats up to him, the one thing i know is he felt better about talking to me because all i did was listen, so im sure there are people who post on here and not just ex sports players who just want to talk and maybe it will make them feel better, its easy for me to say it, but if anyone feels this way then try and talk to see if helps.

I know all about depression and my heart goes out to him
