Tyrone Mears And His Injury

This is a quote from the "Mears ready For the action" article on the bwfc official site....

""Before the Norwich game, I spoke to the specialist and the doctor and we decided to give it a go, but it wasn't to be."

WTF!,,,,

Decided to give it a go!!!

Thought a doctor and a specialist would have been "right Ty fuck off out the surgery your reet to go now",

Not, "oh fuck it, give it a go, it seems ok maybe, whatever, it's only a very important premier league game"

PS who's our "specialist"?? Barry Coyle (mot, phd, iou, brc).?

In our medical staff we trust"..................NOT

Our medical staff do seem to be pretty piss poor.

Sean Davis was les than complimentary about them, claims he told Holden he'd be best doing his rehab elsewhere.

Wheater playing on for 5 minutes with his knee detatched from his lower leg.

Perhaps our Owen should be investing money on a new medical room rather than some more midfielders

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what Sean Davies has to say on the matter, he's bound to be looking for somebody to blame for the fact he is a crock. He was injured for over 3 years, if he thought his treatment was shit, why didn't he do something about it, he was injured for long enough.

Also, I think that some of the injuries that we have had have been a bit freakish. Holdens breakdown was certainbly very odd, but I don't think it can be levelled at our medical team.

Having said that, it is another excuse to have a go at Owen Coyle and the club, so why not carry on

So it's entirely down to bad attitude, freakish injuries, bad luck, poor karma, Reebok hoodoo.......

Aye, alright then.

Davis did go seek his own treatment eventually.

As for blaming Coyle, bollocks.

no, I'm not saying it's down to all of the above, but neither are the injuries we sustained and the long recovery/rehabilitation time solely down to Owen Coyle and the medical team

It's the old 'the medical team are a set of butchers' thread. Missed this for a few weeks.

As ever, we miss out Sam Ricketts recovery from serious injury, Chung Yong-Lee's recovery - as far as I know, he's not currently back on sticks, not to mention getting more or less a full season out of Mark Davies. Does that balance things up yet?

Sounds like Mears was pushing for a return according to that piece, sounds like he was telling the medics he was fine to go when he probably wasn't. He admits as much by saying he pushed himself too much. Scans and tests can tell you a lot, but only the player would know if he was strong enough to go a full 90 minutes.

As for Sean Davis, he's just looking for scapegoats as he looks for another contract. It was a bad injury, he got a lot of care and attention off the club and we certainly didn't throw him back into action before he was required. We never threw him into action again.

The club aren't as daft as they're often painted on here. They know players are investments and there's no point in rushing back players if they'll break down weeks later. Take out Holden and our club is no worse than most for long-term injuries. Including hin and we're probably no worse than most. We just had them all in quick succession.

Holden got that break in the USA/Holland friendly and was on the end of the Jonny Evans tackle, both of which have obviously had long-term implications for him. I wonder if he's built for the game and I'd be worried every time a clogger came near him in the Championship. With that in mind, as I said elsewhere, I can't see him playing a lot of games this season. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

Steinsson, Riley and Alonso were all injured and Robinson was out on loan. I don't think we'd have rushed him back had we not been so desperate.

Coyle and the medical team were probably at fault for all Manyoos injuries last year aswell.

boyata was on the bench

Oh.

Didn't we used to have a reputation for having some of the best medical facilities in the country?

Seem to remember the likes of Speed etc saying that the medical expertise at the club extended his career by a couple of seasons. I know that all went with Allardyce but surely the club should recognise that the number of long-term injuries we have had in the past couple of seasons has a direct correlation with the quality of the treatment room/injury prevention team. I'll wager that we've had more long-term injuries in the past 3 season than we did during the whole of Allardyce's reign.

who here has broken a bone in their late twenties or early thirties and every now and then it doesn't feel right? As you get older bones take longer to heal, on top of that ligament, cartilage repair muscle is all needed before its considered healed. You're talking about players who have had broken legs, to be up and running at full speed, twisting and turning all the time they are getting older.

To be blaming the medical team or the facilities is madness, it isn't as black and white as giving the player a date and expecting him to be back to the minute.

If some of you could actually see what medical teams and rehabilitation coaches do to gt players back to full fitness you would be amazed.

And i suspect Mears is paraphrasing the "give it a go thing" meaning hes done the tests, got his fitness up and one day its felt right the next it hasn't.

Think that was in SA days

He's playing tonight.

The club seemed better at dealing with and preventing injuries in Big Sam's day.

However, the club seemed better at dealing with and preventing injuries than most club's during Big Sam's day.

I'm not 100%, but didn't Chungy go back to Korea for his rehab, seem to remember a video of him on a gravity adjusted tredmill with a Korean doc, and Ricketts do his with part of the GB running/sprint in team?

Maybe the injuries our players have had are just that awkward no medial team could of patched them up any better. Who knows, it just doesn't look brilliant from the outside.
