It's an emotive subject on a day like this. Im in the no camp as I'm one of those hippies who want no one to have one.

i hope that bastard rots in jail and in hell. Luring 2 people to their premature deaths is totally horrific and heartbreaking.

trying to make a name for yourself is one thing but this is absolutely beyond belief.

Notice the bottleless bastard didn't have the balls to lure an armed response unit out instead.Cowardly low life scum!!

Please don't arm all the police.

All hell will break loose if someone is shot who the public feel needn't have been. That's what started the riots last year.

Moreover some coppers on the radio saying they woudn't want to be armed- they wouldn't feel comfortable. Currently those who are armed are very well trained and assessed. Either the pool of new recruits would reduce in size if these standards were maintained, or the standards would drop.

As terrible as the incident is, looking at the stats, firearm offences have gone down consistently on the last 4 years, so to say it is more important to arm them now doesn't back that argument up
