October 30, 201411 yr Got chance to go on it last night and dine under it. Short tour on the plane was good & highly recommended. Gutted won't ever get chance to fly on it. Anyone off here ever fly on it?
October 31, 201411 yr Did you go to the Duxford Proms night? I went about 5 years ago. Full on Brass band playing the old standards whilst Spitfires and the Lancaster flew overhead. The Spitfire/ Hurricane aerial display was stirring stuff even in the piss pouring rain.
October 31, 201411 yr Author I used to drink it. Farnworth park before City Lites! We used to lie on our backs, someone would unscrew/uncork the Concorde and you had to down it in one. When you stood up you were fucked.... and ready for City Lites! (Preferred Merrydown myself, but that's another story!).
October 31, 201411 yr That was the one my Aunty flew on. Maybe you sat next to her. Daft as a brush with a huge beehive hairdo. Will dig out the VHS

They have a bit of a problem in the IWM family in that all the others are looking at the tragedy of conflict whereas Duxford is more about 'Wooooooh! look at the planes!' I will be going on Remembrance Sunday on the 9th. http://www.iwm.org.uk/events/iwm-duxford/remembrance-sunday-1 Again, free admission!

Every time there's a fly past at Buck House the aircraft pass over our house heading down the Lee Valley before heading West up the Thames and over the Palace. Love seeing the Lancaster flanked by Spitfires and Hurricanes and the occasional glimpse of the Red Arrows. Stirs the blood, so it does.
November 1, 201411 yr Living here in Northamptonshire we get to see them all - particularly in the Air Show season. The old ones, and the Red Arrows, tend to appear whilst transiting between shows. Always a stirring and fantastic sight. The Vulcan being my favourite - just. in addition we get a lot of low-flying RAF and USAF planes and helicopters throughout the year. I love it.

November 2, 201411 yr I remember going to an airshow at by brothers RAF base in Wales when I was a kid. As we were family of someone stationed there we had access to the VIP section next to the VVIP tent with the bigwigs and minor royals. Seeing and hearing a Harrier hover less than 100 yards away and then giving a bow to the royals blew me away. The ground shook as it gracefully turned around then and fucked off in seconds. I was hooked on the whole experience and how much my brother was enjoying his time there, I wanted to join as soon as possible but colour blindness and scoliosis well and truly fucked them plans up
November 2, 201411 yr Don't be Mard. Richard the third had that & he went out fighting willy nilly with nothing but a horse, never mind a plane
