November 23, 201510 yr Hi, I have a 2009 VW Golf 1.6TDI, the car has done 47K miles. My car has an intermittant fault when I brake, say approaching a set of traffic lights or maybe a roundabout, the revs drop suddenly and the car cuts out. The car always restarts straight away after the fault. I was travelling home tonight and the car cut out 6 times in about a 2 mile stretch. The car might be fine for a number of weeks now. There are no warning lights and I've recently taken the car to an independent garage for a full diagnostics and zilch! Nothing came up. This fault is really pissing me off now, anybody have any ideas?
November 23, 201510 yr Ex-Mrs had 52 plate Bora. Did the same thing. It was the engine management system. Had to take it to a VW garage for a reboot or whatever

November 23, 201510 yr Author I took my car to Atherton car safety, their diagnostics charge was £48.00 I think I might take the car to Brabbs motor works, in Leigh, they've just sorted out my friends Mini, that couldn't be sorted at the main dealers.

November 23, 201510 yr should add, lad i know is a cracking mechanic but as a back street operation hes pretty much washed his hands of modern cars without proper diagnostics hes like a fish out of water i reckon you need a vw specialist - not a main dealer obvs last time i checked they were 3 times the hourly rate
November 23, 201510 yr I know a VW specialist that works for Volks world in Preston if you get stuck mate.
November 23, 201510 yr From past experience I would never recommend the above to anyone. They quoted me something similar, I bought a device to read the code myself for £20.
