Gave our apprentice a spreadsheet of products to check on some websites this morning and he looked at me like I was asking him to gargle with broken glass or summat.

Progress though innit.

I have to ensure our apprentices wear all the Ppe, hi viz, gloves hard hats etc, and there’s bollockings when they get caught even walking through an area without it on etc. 

when I was 16 I asked for a pair of gloves to wear while using an angle grinder and was asked “ what are you , a man or some sort of homosexual ? you’ve got goggles, get on with it “ 

I was oft taken to the cattle market at lunch and given pints to drink before going back into the workshop to use angle grinders and the like . 
these days we have D&A tests and people get sacked if they had a session the night before
