  1. I was in Paris for the rugby world cup, and the SNCF strike was taking place at the time. They managed to run the entire Metro service there with a skeleton staff almost without disruption, so I'd guess (hope) it'll be the same in Munich.
  2. I'm thinking of getting a coach from Amsterdam (I'm living in Utrecht this year) which arrives Thursday and leaves Saturday. What's all this about armed convoys then?
  3. Agreed, I thought Guthrie was spot on today. Very energetic, intelligent, always looking for space. Would have had an assist if Davo had kept his header down too.
  4. Unfortunately, when I went into the Quick on the Champs-Ellysees to look for an Anelka burger, whilst in Paris for the Rugby World Cup, I could find no evidence of it. I had a look at that poster when I got back and noticed that it said "Jusqu'au 07/10/2007" so I missed the promotion by a couple of weeks.
  5. A number of times recently people have complained about Nolan getting the ball stuck under his feet when within sight of goal etc. The fact is, Nolan is one of those important midfielders who's good at getting a sight of goal in the first place. When he scores and he is confident, everything will come that bit more quickly to him.
  6. Not sure I'd really look at blaming anyone. It was a weird situation and we didn't react well. But... McCann, Diouf, Gardner Which one is the defender?
  7. I was encouraged by what I saw of Gardner today - looked a lot quicker and sharper than he has been, until he was nobbled.
  8. Who do those who think that appointing Megson (and Lee?) was all about doing things on the cheap think we could have attracted if we'd been prepared to spend some more money and not practised such "false economy"?
  9. Fair enough - though a statement isn't defamatory if it's true!
  10. Goes a bit quiet this time of night over there. Yes, that's me - I did have my full username on here, but fecked it up, lost the password, and the email address it was linked to is now defunct. Anyway, saying things like "Speed's got blood on hands" all seems a bit over the top to me, and I'm just wondering what it's all about.
  11. Ok fine, though there's usually no bother in relating facts. Perhaps you're the exception to what I'm saying, but I've read plenty of people saying things about Speed that are disproportionate to their knowledge of what went on. Next question is then, if Speed didn't have a point with what he was saying, then why wasn't he told to feck off? Not a fan of the power that players can wield myself, but let's face it, Speed's market value is the square root of feck all - it's not like the Club was facing an ultimatum over an asset worth millions, which is sometimes the reality in these situations. If it was a case of Speed or Lee, then why was it Lee was the one to go? For what it's worth, I would have kept Lee on based on football alone. But surely the buck stops with the manager if he's lost the support of his playing staff when unity is required?
  12. Well go on then, I'm more than happy to be brought upto speed. (No pun intended). Did he do anything more than give his opinion on the situation at the Club? Anything more than he was entitled to do as perhaps the senior player at the Club, and also a member of the coaching staff?
  13. Why can't people just accept that in all honesty we don't really know what went on with the likes of Speed and Nolan. The only fact in the equation is that we weren't getting results. Gary Speed doesn't have anything other than a record of professionalism and loyalty in a career of something like 800 club appearances and almost 100 international caps - if something is going so badly wrong that he feels the need to speak out then Gartside wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't listen. This idea of Speed as the 'assassin' or whatever that people have seized upon without really knowing the facts is ridiculous.
