  1. sounds like a decent player altho we would loose him to the ANC next january if he did sign. he played at toulouse so would know about elmander and the kind of service he wants. maybe elmander recommended/mentioned him to megson? he scored 1 in 3 last season in a team which was relegated which is really good seems to have been linked with quite a few big clubs in the past so for about ?5-7m (which is the usual basic rate for a player nowadays) he might be worth a shot
  2. kevin nolan and fabio aurelio
  3. http://www.skysports.com/video/clips/0,237...6&ssvPage=1 meggo says we've made 3 bids for paul robinson, we've made a final offer bid for ferrie bodde and we are not interested in gelson fernandez or jonathan greening
  4. of those i don't think we can really count on bogdan, harsanyi, obadeyi as they are youngsters and there are fitness question marks over vaz te and j o'brien that leaves us with maybe19 or 20 players including 2 keepers. definately need at least 6 as we are still 3 down on last season due to those loan players leaving
  5. Just seen an interview with Megson on SSN on their first day back to pre-season training. He said in addition to Sean Davis he wants another 6 new players!! He also said don't pay attention to press speculation as he said the club last season were linked with about 300 players and will prob be linked with that many this summer. Megson also said he isn't working to a budget but that he just needs to give he names to Gartside and Eddie and they will try to bring them in. hopefully those 6 other players are: CB, LB, CM, RW, ST, ST
  6. i think the NOTW are just re-hashing old transfer gossip. i remember reading in the bolton news that said wanderers were not interested in him. (they are usually a bit more reliable than the NOTW). he is a decent player but with muamba, davis, mccann, j'obrien all fighting for that defensive/hard-tackling midfield role i can't seem megson going for another one. i agree with brains. wait until the transfer window shuts before passing judgement. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/wanderers/4..._for_Wanderers/
  7. nice to see that he geniunely wants to come. also nice to see that matty taylor and andy o'brien encouraged him to come speaking highly of the manager, club + set up http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~1708166,00.html
  8. Good start. very expereienced prem player. Glad we didn't spend ?3.5m on him in january tho. hopefully meggo can get most of his deals done before they go on their tour of holland and germany http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~1705702,00.html
  9. i've just read up on him and he sounds like a decent prospect. can play in midfield but more of a winger who can create and score goals. accordingto wiki named 40th in the top rising footballing prospects in the world at least we are being linked with the players in the positions we need i.e. midfield, striker and defenders. i'm sure meggo has lots of players he has targeted thanks to the clubs new and improved scouting network
  10. martinez said when he left swansea that he wouldn't be going back to raid his old club of all their best players i.e. bodde, scotland, pratley etc. he did sign that spanish midfielder the other day but that was because he was only on loan at swansea from espanyol. he did add however that if swansea do accept bids/allow some of their best players to leave to other clubs then he might go in for them.
  11. he's a 27 year old dutch player who plays for swansea. he is an attacking midfield playmaker who has good vision, passing and can hit a really good long strike every now and then. he suffered a knee ligament injury in novemer which ruled him out for most of this season but started last season in the championship on fire with plenty of eye catching displays and goals. one of the big reasons for swanseas attractive style of footy and their success over the last 2 years. for the figured being rumoured about ?1.5/2m he is definately worth a punt. i was hoping however for someone with more top flight experience i.e. huddlestone or veloso
  12. looks like we have made a bid for ferrie bodde with swansea fc chairman confirming an approach http://www.rivals.net/news/pgarticle.aspx?...97844&id=79 i guess this means that our pursuit of veloso and huddlestone are unlikely to be pursued This means that at the moment we are likely to land davis on a free, possibly robinson at about ?1m and bodde for about ?2m. Not bad business but i hope that means megson can use the rest of his transfer kitty to get one or two big purchases as well
  13. consistency comes with age and experience. people forget he's only 20. he has played alot of games already in his last 3 seasons but he will get better and stronger. now that he has had a season to settle at the reebok he will hopefully produce his best season (and hopefully with that a few more goals!!)
  14. I'm sure that game will do wonders for muambas confidence which he said was one of his main motivations for being in the tournament. hopefully megson will take notice and get some feedback from steve wigley who i believe is still part of the under-21 set-up. if you let muamba just do that role of sitting infront of the defence and breaking up the opposition play or keeping danger players marked out the game then he is one of the best young players in the country for that role. don't make him try to be a box-to-box, passing, attacking player as well as his game isn't designed for that. i'm sure if we can bring in one or two quality central midfielders in over the summer i.e. huddlestone, veloso etc who can do the attacking, creative, passing stuff then muamba will have a fantastic season and do what he wants to do. a central midfield 3 of muamba, m davies + (new attacking signing) would be a very good midfield that would def work and complement each other well done tonight muamba for proving to every bwfc supporter what your about and why meggo paid ?5m for him. if you can replicate those types of performances more often than not next season then that price tag will seem like a snip p.s. i'm gald to see Stuart Pearce reserve special praise for muamba in his post match sky interview. the fact that he said he told him infront of all the other players will do him the world of good p.p.s if meggo ever leaves bwfc then i believe that staurt pearce is exactly the kind of manager bolton would want and should get. young, ambitious, passionate, goes off performances, not afraid to make the big decisions and drop players out of form, plays players in the right positions + systems and doesn't try to make them do things they aren't capable of. i feel he got a raw deal when he was at man city as he recieved little board backing and they got rid of him despite decent mid-table success (although he was the guy who paid quite a bit of money for Samaras :S )
  15. cheers. been working so not much time to spend on the old forums.
  16. according to SSN Sean Davis is expected to sign soon on a free transfer. Not a surprising transfer to say the least if it goes through but a good acquisition. He is a good box-to-box player, is better than mccann and has about 10 years of prem experience with fulham, spurs and pompey. hopefully the first of many! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11672_5385795,00.html
  17. My team would be: GK - Gomes (Spurs) - absolute rubbish for most of the season. picked up a bit towards the end but has cost spurs many points RB - Justin Hoyte (Boro) - Never been a prem player. Too l=ight weight. Not a good enough defender and good enough as an attacking full back. Cost boro around ?4-5m which isn't worth it considering his limited experience CB - Shelton Matris (WBA) - Absolutely crap everytime i've seen him. He's not even a championship player!! CB - Collocini (Toon) - An awful defnsive display all season. Biggest waste of ?10m since Albert Luque. Didn't seem bothered about Newcastle going down LB - Jose Enrique (Toon) - They're only left back and a poor signing at ?6m. Not prem standard and next to Barton Big Sam's worst buy RM - Bentley (Spurs) - Cost them ?17m and hasn't done anything for them this season. On the transfer list and biggest flop next to Keane at Liverpool CM - Barton (toon) - Need i say more? CM - Deco (Chelsea) - Not set the worl alight since heading to stamford bridge. Had a god 3 or 4 games and then nothing since. Heading out of chelsea to italy this summer LM - Stewart Downing - (Boro) - I know this might seem a surprise but for me he is very over-rated and nowhere near the ?15m people say he is worth. He is very one dimesnional in that all he can do is (although well) send in crosses. He hasn't scored a league goal. Has not been particularly talismanic this season. He has played as if he wants to leave and knows he will leave. Southgate should have got rid 18 months ago and used the funds to strengthen his team. If he is worth ?15m then Matty Taylor must be worth ?30m with his 10 goals and countless assists this season ST - Owen (Toon) - Plagued by injuries and not looked anything like the player who a few years ago was one of the most feared strikers in the world. No pace, no movement, no confience and no goals. Not what you want from a player on over ?100k a week ST - Alves (Boro) - Cost them much more money than Elmander with significant less return on the pich. Only scored aboout 10 goals in 2 seasons and his game doesn't seem to fit the English style Other notable mentions GK - Carson, Brad Jones RB - Micah Richards, Eboue CB - Richard Dunne, Robert Huth, Anton Ferdinand, AOB RM - Glen Little, Diouf, Riga CM - Dunn, Reo-Coker, Muamba, Nolan LM - Jerome Thomas ,Duff ST - Elmander, Zamora
  18. Distin - yes please!!!! I imagine ?3m is prob fair as he is 31 and only has 1 year left on his deal i think. A CB partnership of Distin and Cahill would potentially be one of the best we've had in a long time. Lets hope Matty Taylor can tell him how good it is to play for Bolton. Plus he might like a return to the noth east having spent time at Citeh I know its only a transfer rumour/gossip but they do say there's no smoke without fire. I don't mind transfer rumours when they are linking us with good players. ?3m for Distin and Sean Davis on a free would be good business. Lets hope the rumours are right!!
  19. just a puzzled query how is it nicky hunt got a yellow card when according to the match reports he didn't even play in the game?
  20. Just reported he has left. I wonder who will replace him? Hopefully Gary Cahill is at the top of the list!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/7960392.stm
  21. Is anyone else in two minds about this game? Negative side Something tells Boro will come and do to us what we did to them in november The omens are bad for us. They haven't won away in ages. They haven't scored an away goal in 7 games. Alves hasn't scored in ages and is due one. All these stats remind me of what we were told before the fulham game (they hadn't won away all season and had only scored 3 goals) I really hope i'm wrong its just that whenever a club or player is on a bad run and they play bolton we seem to bring an end to that run. On the positive side Elmander hasn't scored in ages. Kevin Davies, Matty Taylor and Cahill will hope to prove Capello was wrong not to include them in the 23 man england squad We haven't scored a goal from the centre of midfield all season - that stat has to change sometime, right!?
  22. Is he injured? has he died? or does meggo realise he made a mistake and he' not that good? not been included in the last few squads and i can't remember the last time he played a game
  23. not a major trekkie, but i do watch it when its on tv sometimes and i've seen some of the new films
  24. http://trekmovie.com/2009/03/05/new-star-t...trailer-online/ What do you guys think? I know many prob dislike or hate star trek but this seems unlike anything it has ever been before. it looks epic, action packed, great cast, great dialogue. can't wait to watch this and the new film watchmen
  25. watched the west brom arsenal game tonight and he really has fallen spectacularly from the player who looked pretty good in his 1st season at the reebok. he got torn to shreds by bendtner. megson did well getting ?2.5m for him last summer. he makes buying shittu look a very good piece of business as he has done much better when called upon. if west brom continue to defend like they have been they'll be down and out by mid april
