  1. taylor's deal doesn't expire until next summer
  2. Wheater would be a very good buy. He won't cost too much as he's out of contract in the summer. He's only 23, english, has prem experience and was deemed good enough to be called up to the england squad when he was in the prem. For ?1-2m he would definitely be worth getting.
  3. I would suggest maybe Jonathan Woodgate on loan - spurs want to send him out on loan to get match fit and he's very good centre back when fit. If he does get crocked then we can send him back to spurs. Win Win. Apparently it's only championship clubs like Leeds and Cardiff that have been linked with him. Also there is Curtis Davies (yes I know another Villa player but the last 2 we got have done ok) who has been on loan at Leicester. He is rumoured to cost around ?2.5m and he seemed to be a good prospect a few years back. He's relatively young, english and has prem experience. Those two would be my shout. Other names not on the radar would be Swansea City captain Ashley Williams who hasnt signed a new deal and could go in the summer. According to SSN he has been linked with some prem clubs. Another player who i think would be good is Wes Brown. Very good experienced centre back for club and country who seems to be 5th choice CB and about 4th choice RB for United. He wouldn't have to travel far at all and in comparison to other United players wouldn't be on high wages.
  4. I'm encouraged to see we are being linked with players this window like Carlos Vela who I think is exactly what our strike force needs - pace! However we desperately need some more defenders. With Danny Shittu and Andy O'Brien gone in the past few months we are down to 2 centre backs who both aren't too far away from a suspension. Ricketts has played there but I would much rather see him at full-back. With JLS and Steinsson injured too we had to play Marcos Alonso who is only 19 and is one for the future, not now. We have only got 5 defenders available for Wigan and we definitely need at least one more centre back, cetainly two if cahill goes. Maybe Coyle can bring in one or two on loan
  5. this is davies' chacne to shine. he will know he has to play well given the form of Holden. Hope he comes in and does a blinder like he did against spurs. I think this game will suit him as it will be end to end and blackpool will want to attack. He can show how good he is with the ball
  6. yeah a new 4 year one. can't see it happening personally. he's a really good player and very effective at what he does. but at united they want their cake and expect to eat it to. they will want him to tackle and man mark great but also be effective at going forward, passing good and scoring a few goals. this isn't muamba (not yet anyway). i'm sure there are more "all round" tough tackling midfielders out there than man utd could get.
  7. ward played well tonight. hope we can get him tied down to a new long term deal before he goes out on loan. fairly even first half then arsenal demolished us in the second half. you could tell that riga, cohen, shittu etc can't be arsed anymore as they are obviously back up players who if, given the chance, would be sold to get them off the wage bill. the sooner they are rid of the better as there was probably about 50-60k a week playing out there that we don't need. if coyle is still buddies with wenger then he should go for jay emmanuel thomas - he was awesome! scored a great goal in the first half
  8. according to todays BEN both ward (been on the cards for a while)and joey o'brien are closing on loan moves out of the club. i think it will be good for them. JOB went on loan to sheff wed a few years ago and that did him the world of good and ward had a great spell at swindon. both are about 5th or 6th choice players in their respective positions so would be no loss
  9. Hopefully that means that Cahill will now definitely be staying here for at least another season. Arsenal will now have Koscielny, Vermaelen, Squillaci, Djourou (and Song who can play there too plus players like bartley and other youngsters). Can't see Eenger forking out ?15m+ to get Cahill as well. Man Utd won't buy him, nor will Man City, L'pool or Chelsea. Can't see who is out there who could afford him. Now all Coyle needs to do is ship out shittu, jls and riga (either permanent or on loan) and our squad looks quite good!
  10. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/149482/Craig-Bellamy-set-for-Bolton-loan-deal/ we can only dream!
  11. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Matt-Kilgallon-is-a-target-for-both-Bolton-and-Middlesbrough-article554961.html According to the mirror we are after Matt Kilgallon from Sunderland for ?1.75m. For that price it wouldn't be too bad. He played well for Leeds and Sheff United before moving to Sunderland in January but suffered from injuries so only managed 7 games for them. He's only 26, english, has plenty of experience, is a leader and a talker at the back and is better than danny shittu (who we will hopefully be rid of before the end of august)
  12. in the bolton news on monday there was a big season preview which showed all the players and their squad numbers. as usual the bwfc site will probably put them up in december. according to them we have klasnic only on loan
  13. league 1 opposition so not too bad. a good chance of getting through to the next round hopefully super kev will score against them again!
  14. now that chelsea are 1 person short at CB? Gary Cahill i'm sure will be on the list of candidates they will want to replace him. He's young, english (which will help with chelsea home grown quota) and i'm sure if he does well this week for england John Terry might give him a good mention.
  15. according to todays bolton news he's set to be unveiled today as our player after passing a medical yesterday. i wonder if he'll be sent straight out on loan again to get some experience?
  16. great news. he's improved each season he's been here. he's only 22 yet has lots of experience. hopefully he can continue to improve this year (and maybe get a few more goals!). it would be nice if this season he can break through from the England under 21's to the full squad. people have mentioned lee cattermoles name this week but i think muamba is a better player
  17. knight was injured for tonights game and cahill went off with a wrist injury. i hope they're both ok for the opener against fulham. wouldn't feel confident with a CB partnership of AOB and ricketts!!! other than that a good nights football. some good play, particularly in the first half.
  18. just realised the link doesn't work but just go to the bwfc website and its a freeview video
  19. http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~2110017,00.html Quite an interesting watch
  20. Daily Mirror seems to be going along with what the Bolton News wrote today - we are favourites to land him as fergie is impressed with the progress wilshire made last season and wants cleverly to do the same. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Bolton-transfer-news-Owen-Coyle-hopes-to-beat-Newcastle-to-the-signing-of-Manchester-United-starlet-Tom-Cleverley-article544315.html Also, if the mirror (and also the mail) are to be believed, Danny Shittu could possibly move to turkish side Trabsonspor and earn ?1m a year. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Bolton-defender-Danny-Shittu-in-talks-over-Trabsonspor-move-article544329.html I think if both pieces of news are true then that would be good. Shittu will prob be on a decent wage and be good to get rid. Cleverley can't be on too much and he did well in a struggling watford team last season. Seems to be very energetic, versatile and can score goals which is what our centre midfield needs. Hope if shittu does go then coyle can bring in a better replacement. With AOB hinting at moving and a Cahill move to arsenal still a possibility i think the CB area is the next priority (assuming we get cleverly and hopefully klasnic) Good/relatively cheap targets (in terms of transfer fee) - curtis davies, anton ferdinand?
  21. Now that we know we will not be getting Jack Wilshire back on loan again this season, do you think coyle should try getting another arsenal youngster out on loan and, if so, who it should be? wenger seemed impressed by his stint at bolton which helped him mature mentally and physically and i'm sure the way coyle wants to play football would mean wenger might allow more players to come to the reebok to get some game time in the future. there are a few names like carlos vela, frimpong, jay simpson etc. that might be worth a shout
  22. Bolton are 2-1 down. don't know the scorers http://www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/News/Archive/2010/July/035.php
  23. 3-0 - how crap are we
  24. to Bristol City according to SSN sources http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6282258,00.html? all coyle needs to do now is to offload riga, samuel and shittu to free up some money for one or two more players!
  25. and how many of those are going to be off too - utaka, ben haim, boateng. and they're still under transfer embargo too (and no goalie on the books). They might even struggle to name a starting 11 come 10 more days
