Coronavirus
I don’t live in fear. I don’t stay inside. I’ve spent more time outside and read more books than I ever have. I and millions of others, across the world have had to change their lifestyle in ways they never would have expected. Some have actually died. Some have actually grieved. We are nearly there. A couple of months won’t make that much difference to people’s lives.

‘Em’ Not sure who they are. The government, the NHS, the thousands of unpaid volunteers? If they’d missed it by the narrowest of margins, this forum would have been in meltdown. Having been jabbed, I have nothing but praise for the people involved in the process. From the yellow vested people marshalling the queue to the good lady giving the jab.

My income is down over the last 12 months including grants from the government. Our outgoings though are down considerably more. No holidays, meals, pub, football, fuel, clothing, haircuts etc. We therefore have more in savings than we had last year. I’d rather it was the other way round though.

The vaccine problems have highlighted the bureaucratic and ideological weaknesses of the EU. It’s always been there and is why I’ve always understood why people wanted out. Brexit and COVID will cause long lasting damage to the EU. More than the U.K. in my opinion. Some will say it was all needless but it was inevitable and democracy will always conquer ideology.

For the record, I’m not trying to pick holes. I’ve been in your situation many times. My attitude now is how my bosses reacted when I thought all was lost. They always looked for an alternative, lateral thinking was their mantra. If your in a position of influence, then being positive is invaluable. When I started my business 20 years ago, I got a business starter pack from Barclays. One of the first questions was: When something goes wrong, do you automatically blame someone else? If the answer is yes, don’t start your own business.

You’re not banned from anything. I was in purchasing in engineering for 12 years. Started off as Buyer then Senior Buyer, Materials Manager then Purchasing Manager. I never once resorted to praying. Have any of your purchasing people been over there to try and sort out these issues or are they all whinging on social media?

You’re more than entitled to express your grievances about how Brexit affected you personally. Whatever the threats are to your circumstances. Its nothing compared to how it’s affected me. I voted remain. I’ve never complained because that’s what democracy is. You voted out. One of those who hadn’t a clue what it was all about. Please stop moaning.
