  1. You started it! Like all other threads it got hijacked by politics. In fact the whole issue of this tragic women’s death has become political.
  2. Knife crime in London is far more prevalent than murder. Two thirds of knife crime is carried out by young black people. Who crosses the road first?
  3. What do you know about this case that makes it rare? The police haven’t released any info.
  4. Should a vigil go ahead at all?
  5. Weird how every topic turns into politics and the politics thread turns into alcohol.
  6. It’s not known yet. People are speculating that she was abducted. Statistically, women are over 75% more likely to be killed by someone they know.

Who would have been a better option?
  8. Fashion today is pretty much nonexistent for males. A nice watch is and always was, the staple of basic fashion sense.
  9. I see Switzerland has banned face coverings apart from COVID precautions. https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-56314173 From another site. France banned wearing a full face veil in public in 2011 and Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands and Bulgaria have full or partial bans on wearing face coverings in public. If this was us of the US, there would be uproar. There are other European countries considering the same action including the Czech Republic.
  10. Grammar School and not Eton educated in her earlier life. Still hated by most on the left though. As you say, her politics were divisive but she changed the stereotypical view of a Tory for most.
  11. How could I forget Maggie. Daughter of a grocer.
  12. Adolf Hitler was an artist. Ronald Reagan was an actor. Vladimir Putin was ex KGB Imran Khan was a cricketer I think a porn star is involved in Italian politics.
  13. Due to lockdown, I’ve now actually only worked 6 months in the last 12. Consequently, I’ve done a lot of walking. Rivington and Anglezarke are so big that you could do a different walk every day for weeks. Maybe more. I’ve also done it in different weathers. Snow, rain, fog and hot sun. Very lucky to have it all on our doorstep.
  14. Two lads are two Cairns on Crooked Edge Ridge. I was there on Friday afternoon, much quieter. I parked in the new Walker Fold car park and walked up the new path. Nice 1 1/2 hour walk.

People always compare us with the US. We aren’t the same. Try comparing the NHS with other health systems across the world that have a higher involvement with the private sector. Then come back with a worthwhile comparison.
  16. Your talking about Scotland now.
  17. The spat between the EU and it’s member states will be more interesting.
  18. It has been mentioned 👍 Short term gain, long term pain.
  19. Could have put this in either this or the COVID thread. This seemed the most appropriate. https://news.sky.com/story/amp/covid-19-italy-and-eu-block-oxford-vaccine-shipment-to-australia-12235848 For 3 reasons this is important. 1. I want to see my son. 2. I want to see the Ashes. 3. Blatant protectionism by the EU that will eventually come back to haunt them.
  20. I remember watching the Matrix once. Cant say I understood what was going on. Just observing you and Youri conversing reminded me of it.😊 Your mention of experiment reminded me of the last day before Christmas at BIT in 1980. Went to the pub at lunchtime. 4 pints later, back to class for an HNC engineering science lesson with only me there. Thought he’d send me home as all the rest were still in the pub but made me do some experiment involving a bunsen burner and unknown chemicals. It’s a miracle me and the building are still here. Totally unrelated some may say but it was the first time I wore a face mask.
  21. It works both ways. Being Reactionary is not necessarily left or right, politically.
  22. Really? I doubt that but if you have any facts to prove your statement, I’ll happily accept. Just reading through this and it’s interesting how many people don’t give a fuck but then post countless times to prove they do. Political naivety or hypocrisy? After Boris and Rishi, she’s probably the most influential politician in the U.K. at the moment. People said Farage was irrelevant then look what happened.
  23. This is a couple of weeks old but the initial response was more draconian. Not sure what the situation is now though. https://amp.dw.com/en/coronavirus-new-checks-cause-chaos-at-german-czech-border/a-56572675
  24. This is all true. I can’t help thinking that comparisons between the ex posters and the current crop is like when we were in the Premier League and now League 2. I miss the Premier league (that’s a euphemism for Brixton)
  25. I like Owain but he’s becoming a bit of a caricature. The few gay blokes Ive known just wanted to be normal and accepted as such.
