  1. if one things for certain G O'C was never really interested in what was going on on the pitch, just off it. Top lad along with his mate P.A. Got loads of stories about them two. G O'C saved me from a good kicking when we played City one time. Always new there could be potential for trouble when you went to the match with these two, but some how I always felt a lot safer in their company especially away from home.
  2. If were talking Fred D? I remember on a visit back to Bolton many years ago he was working the doors at the Pack Horse. I was walking past the side door on Nelson square, from were I came across him knocking the shit out of a young lad. poor lad looked pretty hurt. I tried to intervene and he turned on me. He thumped me in the stomach but didn't connect properly. He looked a bit bewildered why I hadn't gone down. (all the sit ups in the gym certainly paid off that night) Anyway didn't hang about for any more, I had seen the guy in action before.
  3. Look OK on the girls in the pic's, but the old question always pops up about what are they gonna look like when they are old and sagging?.
  4. Blimey! I do remember all of these scoots. hats off to you mate. Posted a link with most of the scooters on there. http://scooter-fr.chez-alice.fr/galerie80scustom.htm
  5. Who beat Bury 3-1
  6. Not according to Willy Cox He reckons they did, he said so, I read it.
  7. Just been reading this article on the beachcomber in Bolton. Not sure where in town it was?. Sounds like it was a bit on the rough side. Never new the Who played in Bolton? you learn summat every day! http://www.mancheste...beachcomber.php
  8. Know the name Barry Worroll and of course Pete merchant owns Soley scooters (i'm losing it) I thought Harry Barlow of Pro Port fame was based in Leicester?. Or have i got him mixed up as well?. I was never a member of the Roadrunners, as I moved away from Bolton before I was old enough to buy a scoot. I did meet a few lads on the rallies in the 80's Obviously new Ginger, met a couple of brothers who said they ran the club one of which was a Fireman I recall. One lad called Hot Dog and a bodybuilder called Andy a real placid lad. That's about all I can remember. Do you remember a lad from Salford who owned the Jackie Wilson custom vespa? my mate in Hampshire bought it.
  9. Good point well made NB Rules is Rules! Remind me was it trying to shove her hand down your kek's just after the fingering bit?. it's been a while
  10. My Scooter is all of the above.
  11. Feck me I think your right Well done mate. only been rattling me brain for about 30 years or so. Remembered a name of a lad called Pete Merchant from around the same time. No idea why or who he is to be honest?. Wally Trepass looked like he was riding a toy scooter he was that fucking big. remember him having an orange vespa. Wonder if he's still around?.
  12. Fuck sake Traff why did you have to go and say that? you've ruined my Christmas TV viewing now.
  13. Yes brilliant cover but I prefer the original. I like Timebox's I will always love you. Top tune.
  14. Your a naughty boy Mr White.
  15. Been thinking having read your posts Mr B that you maybe a long lost relative? We have too much in common, Scooters, Horse racing, The mighty whites (obviously), A respect and admiration in our musical tastes (The Jam/Weller and Northern Soul). Bet you still wear like me adidas Samba's? If you tell me one of your top 5 tunes of all time is Frankie Valli's epic song Beggin? Then I'm out of here mate!
  16. Back in the 70's part of your terrace apprenticeship was away at Oldham. The Chaddy end was the first away end I ever set foot in. Think I went in at least three times back then?. Remember one time I was late getting in and spotted a few lads from Bolton about ten or so in number, so went and stood with them. One said they were in earlier and a few young lads were running a muck but got kicked out back to the Rochdale road end. A large group of lads near us spotted us and started chanting City thinking we might run Ha ha. A couple of lads ran at um and a small fight broke out. Next thing we know one of then a half cast lad with a big fuck off Afro wearing a bright yellow V neck jumper pulls out a big shiny blade and started beckoning us to come and have ago. He was a game fucker not very big, but none of the Bolton lads were stupid enough to risk getting stabbed or worse. plus we were vastly outnumbered but our lads still had a go. About 20 mins later the OB decided to kick us out. Quite a bit of scrapping took place after the match with Bolton running a mock. I was run over by a police horse and thought that's enough for one day.
  17. Remember it well. I was in the Darwen end. About 2.30 I saw just two Bolton lads (both went to my school) run from the corner of the Blackburn end next to the riverside, obviously chanting Bolton towards the Blackburn fans, Who ran like a flock frightened sheep in the opposite direction. which obviously sparked encouragement from us with the usual chant of Hello Hello Bolton agro. Funny as Fuck!. of course in them days the OB just marched you to your own end instead of kicking you out. So the two lads just got the obligatory Oooly Oooly Ooligans on the way back to us from the Bolton fans. Saw a few other known faces kicking off in the Blackburn end during the game who where also given there marching orders by the OB. I know and work with loads of Blackburn fans who will tell you of at least one story of having the misfortune of being in the wrong place when Bolton visited town.
  18. The Detractors sounds like a name of a band . Not big numbers Mr B. But at least a turn out. Bloody weather looks good though. So if I ever come down to Perth which scooter are you lending me for a ride out?. One thing that's on my Bucket list is the Midnight ride out with the Vespa club of Rome. (the oldest scooter club in the world) saw Griff Rhys Jones do the ride on TV a couple of years ago, Looked like a great way to see Rome. So how many runs do you do in the summer?. problem is here there are too many to chose from. As well as the nationals there are loads of smaller weekend local and club do's.
  19. My mate had a pub right next door to his house In Selsey Bill and named it the Stargazer in his honour. Miserable bugger didn't show up for the opening, and never once called in for a jar or two. Still RIP
  20. Fucking disgraceful that throwing coins. Don't they understand we are in a triple dip recession?
  21. Doubt if you know me? I go on mainly the local rides these days with the Lancashire Alliance. Meet a few of the Pouges mahone from Darwin and some of the Pendle and Ribble valley S.C. I have chatted to a few Roadrunners and Spartans. Known Ginger (Kev Lawton) since the 80's from the Nationals. I lived down south for years so only recently getting to know the scene up here. Do you know who owns the Yellow SX from the Bolton lot?. (really nice!). I left Bolton when I was a teenager but still remember the Roadrunners back in the late 60's early 70's scrapping with rockers outside the Victory pub on Chorley old road on a Sunday night. Used to sit across the road with a bottle of pop and a bag of crisps and watch it all kick off. (bet Bolty was the No1 back then!). There used to be a back alley between the Vic and St Luke's church from were me and a mate use to climb on the wall and watch some Biker chick get shagged by some Greaser. If we got lucky sometimes it was two Mods at it. (we where pervy little nippers). Been rattling me brain trying to remember the name of a lad? When I say lad he was a built like a bear with a beard to match and lived up near Eskirk st, Brownlow Fold area. I was once looking at his scooter outside one of the pubs (may have been the City?) And he came out and said get away from my Scooter you fucking little Mod or i'l bounce you down that fucking road. I never went within a mile of him afterwards. I once heard a tale that he started scrapping down stairs at the Swan with all the heavy metal mob on his own?. and on one occasion kicked a load of bikes over at the Beehive? Keep getting the name Pete and surname starting with M in my head?
  22. My younger days I was told I looked like Bruce Foxton (no complaints back then, Trust me it helped with the young ladies) Now told I look like this chap? (Not far off the mark that one).
  23. Looks like an LX? Shit one at that. Agree with Bolty Classic is best. I did have a do on a Vespa S (liked the square headlight) and also ridden a GTS sport in burnt orange. Quite a few twisties showing up on the rallies and local ride outs these days (especially the GTS's) Have you seen the new 946? It's a abomination.
