  1. He was the Prime Minister but I doubt any leader of any party with a chance of Government would have done anything different. UKIP were making a big impression and it couldn’t be ignored. The majority voted to leave. That’s democracy. People told lies on both sides. I don’t know who told the most lies, maybe it was the same.
  2. Their? Who are we talking about? The Conservatives, ( Who’s official policy was remain, Labour’s was unclear)) The Labour Party, the UK Independence Party or the British public who eventually voted to leave. When Cameron announced that they would have a referendum, I shuddered. I don’t remember such a response from the opposition. They were as much compliant in this ‘shitstorm’ as you call it as any others. You also have to remember that we are in the minority. The majority of the people who bothered to vote, voted out.
  3. Cameron. In response to and to fight off the U.K. Independence party. It was the biggest political mistake in my lifetime. We’ve been through it many times but remember, the Conservative Governments official line was to remain. Cameron got it wrong, in my opinion, others will disagree. We’ve been through this so many times it’s beyond boring.
  4. It was Cameron who brought Brexit to the table. Not this incumbent government. Same party I know but different people.
  5. We’ve been through this before. Both Labour and the conservatives were divided by Brexit.
  6. No. It’s easy to criticise. Blair had the answer. No one on the left has a clue on how to form a party of any credibility. Ideology over pragmatism.
  7. Comparing them with governments who had to deal with COVID and Brexit.? I can’t think of any.
  8. Not disagreeing but the opposition are a set of cunts.
  9. It’s normal for the incumbent government to get stick. It’s always the case. When a general election comes around, the opposition has to stick there heads above the parapet and then the reality of the alternative is revealed for all to see.
  10. I can’t compare this government with any other. Different times and circumstances. I can compare this opposition though. Totally inept and never, ever getting into power. That is my opinion of course. You of course have yours.
  11. Maybe create a credible alternative? It’s not that difficult a concept unless you are locked in an endless pursuit of idealism.
  12. 😊 Good point. I’ll pay tomorrow. I’ll send you the receipt by dm.
  13. I hear people on here saying this is the worst government ever. I don’t remember any government in my lifetime having to deal with Brexit and a pandemic but there you go, each to there own as they say. For the record, the worst governments in my lifetime were between 1964 -1979. Both Labour and Tory. I’ll say this without fear of contradiction, this opposition is the worst in my lifetime . If anyone can convince me otherwise, I’ll give £100 to charity.
  14. Not sure mean is the right word but I get your point. We are recovering very well. Making comparisons is always difficult but everyone does it. The economy is recovering, many thought it wouldn’t, for lots of reasons. People will always look back to the pandemic and make judgments on the handling of it by the government. That is right and will be reviewed accordingly. People will also look back at how the government supported them during the crisis. Many will thank them for that. As I said, the next election will, as always, be decided on the economy. It always is. Now, what’s the alternative?
  15. But we are going to improve more dramatically than others. Agree? It was a pandemic, which means it was global. The whole world. We are, economically, coming out of this better than others. That’s a good thing. Isn’t it?
  16. The U.K. growth rate forecast is pretty good. It will determine the next election. Anything else is just hot air. https://www.imf.org/en/Publications/WEO/Issues/2021/10/12/world-economic-outlook-october-2021
  17. Yes. I didn’t say don’t. I said instead of. There’s a difference. Its not only possible to be ‘fucked off’ with both its absolutely, totally natural. If you want change, come up with an alternative. It isn’t there.
  18. That is the most relevant part of your post. None of the other parties have a vote winner. People may question that but that is politics for you and it’s the same in every country in the world. As for the economy, it will be the decider, it always is. You and I know the old political expression ‘it’s the economy, stupid’ The economy is and will continue to strengthen. The Tories are ahead in the polls. Until someone comes up with a better alternative, they will win again. It’s inevitable. Instead of continually whinging at the government, try make a difference and turn your anger at the opposition, it’s the only way to make a real difference.
  19. There is Euro scepticism across Europe. Most of the pro EU remainers either aren’t aware or are ignoring it. I’ll bore everyone again by saying I’m a remainer. If there was a vote tomorrow, Id vote remain. There is, however, a huge problem with the politics of the EU. It was there before Brexit. I’ll also say this again, most remainers haven’t a clue about the individual politics of each member state. They know all about Joe Biden though.
  20. Which party are you canvassing for?
  21. You’re planning on going to the Ashes. Because of the uncertainty of travel, you can’t make any commitments. Ive actually made that excuse already and It works.👍
  22. He wasn’t upset, he felt uncomfortable. That’s what he said when I spoke to him later although I suspected that he was. Before that night I would have laughed like everyone else and thought nothing of it. Because I knew the bloke and it’s affect on him, it was the night that changed my mind about humour and how its used. I suppose that’s what people refer to as education. Isn’t it?
  23. I saw Bernard Manning a few times. Very funny. The last time I saw him was at a dinner for Neil Fairbrother at LCCC. In the audience was Mudassar Nazar. He played for Little Hulton and then went on to play for Pakistan. He was a good friend of my Dad and I spoke to him afterwards about him. Manning took the piss out of him and made jokes about corner shops and terrorists and stuff. The audience thought it was very, very funny. I felt sorry for him.
