Like you, I too once backed Evatt and thought he was the manager who would lead us to the championship at least. I started to see issues in that first year in League 1 but was happy as you could see there was improvement with every new signing. In the 3rd year those issues i saw before started to get worse, yes we were doing well on points but there were issues with how we'd fold over for the other decent teams, this is when the very first of us started calling for a Plan B, so that we could try and get something from these kind of games. We didnt get it and for the first half of the 4th season, it didnt matter so much as even though we were losing to the decent teams, we were getting so many points from the rubbish ones it didn't matter. This is when the problem happened in January 23, those rubbish teams started to find ways to get points from us, they realised that by sitting back and trying to snatch a point wouldn't work, so they got aggressive and pressed. This is when Santos started to go down hill and mistakes crept into our formerly strong defence. This season Evatt has attempted to fix these issues but has failed and now we look weaker than ever. The issues never changed vs those good teams, and the Plan A 2.0 or whatever he called it made us weaker vs everyone. Players performing poorly and mentality etc that keep getting brought up are a red herring or a scapegoat. Designed to manipulate the fans, so that blame can be shifted away from Evatt. If we don't let the board know how we feel, he'll be here as long as they are or until the money runs dry. The club uses a scraping tool on here to get semi structured data into a noSQL database from which fan sentiment reports are generated.

I think i'll believe my own critical analysis before i blindly trust the clubs owners because they're rich, therefore they must be right? Do you even hear yourself?
  3. Zog1 replied to desperado's topic in Terrace Talk
Nobody's really asking that... you dishonest dullard They're saying he shouldn't have a job and they're asking why Football Ventures haven't sacked him.

Watch out the Ian Evatt defence league is out in force today. Totally insufferable midwits, sycophants and lapdogs

    Is that you Ian?

The 532 we had last year was working until Jan 24. Meaning it got found out, teams had worked out how to beat it, flood the midfield and press the wingbacks. In the summer we changed to a 523 the issue is, this basically doubled down on the thing that wasn't working, from both a tactical perspective and a recruitment one. The nexus/core of the team was in the area around the CM and DM in 532, stayed the same in 523 but we lost a body in that area, thus it's putting extra pressure on the Centre backs, which is causing them to make mistakes, they're basically getting out of positon to cover. This formation has the same weaknesses and counters, so from an oppositon perspective we've just made ourselves easier to beat, with the attack totally cut off from the rest of the team. This isn't what anyone had in mind when they suggested we employ a plan b, the plan b everyone talked about was an intra match plan b, so that we were not as predictable and we could be more counter attacking vs the good teams in the division we struggled with...that's it. Evatt seems to think about football like it's something he can set up and it will basically run itself on the day, it's like subs are decided and timed pre match. There's nothing dynamic about it, it's like he has no ability to read the passage of play or analyse weaknesses and opportunities in real time.

Fast wingers and ones that can dribble cause chaos in league one, defenders at this level can't handle them.
  8. Zog1 replied to desperado's topic in Terrace Talk
You shouldn't judge any of the players when it's clear this formation, tactics and playstyle are crippling them. Morley being a prime example, i think the same will happen to Dion. Hell Cambridge have been impressed with Nlundulu and he looked like a non league player for us. Iredale has been a revelation for Hibs since coming back from injury in December as a left sided centre back.

Williams was doing some training with a private coaching thing the other day with RH Elite Coaching. Probably trying to get sharp for medicals etc.

If we were to accept: "I think we need to accept Evatt isn't going anywhere." He'll be here next season. The justification if were in the 8th-12th range will be something like: It was a blip and we come close. There was alot of change this year, the players needed to learn our system and we'll do better next year. We made some massive changes and it hurt performances but they needed to be made. Unless we push he'll be here forever and we'll never escape League 1.

    a new manager...
  13. Zog1 replied to Ratwhite's topic in Terrace Talk
Couldn't agree more, the reason he's had a "poor" season is the level of support he's recieved from the midfield as a result of the changes Evatt made in the summer has been shocking. It's yet more Evatt gaslighting and scapegoating.
  14. Zog1 replied to Ani's topic in Terrace Talk
Wasnt there meant to be a root and branch analysis done and changes to be made, as to why we had so many injuries...months later nothings changed. Can only assume it was one of a litany of bs excuses for poor performances or the findings showed IE's been signing people with a history of injury so the team supressed the news.
  15. Zog1 replied to Ratwhite's topic in Terrace Talk
He's got to be worth atleast a Gary Madine.

The reason we're struggling now against everyone is the same reason we did poorly against good sides last year too. When Evatt made his change from 532 to a 5212/523 his plan A 2.0 or whatever he called it, basically doubled down on the bits which weren't working, this was across the board, yes from style and formation perspective, but also recruitment. His talks of mental weakness etc are basically a gaslighting attempt to cover this up. Even now if we went back to 532, sure, we'd start beating those weak teams again but ultimately, it would never get us promotion from League 1, even if we'd have done it from the start of the season. I think the fact that he's been exposed as not being the genius he clearly thinks he is, has broken him, his ego can't handle it, and it's clear to me atleast, that he needs to go, even if it's for his own mental health.

I'd rather we got this Terry Taylor 😂

“The minute I don’t think I can win it, I’ll walk away. Should have already “That is how I feel. I am a proud man. “I am not deluded. And delusion is rife in football. Delusion “I am not delusional and the minute I don’t think I can get any more out of these players then I will have that conversation with the board. They know that and I know that.” Evatt’s view after the Rotherham defeat was that some or all of his players were not living up to their end of the bargain, with the manager making mention of a “fragile mentality” within the group. Just another excuse to explain away ill conceived tactics and inflexable in game managment. Subs shouldnt be on a clock at 70 mins, you should be reading the game, the flow of movement, weaknesses. It's a dynamic thing not something planned out before hand like a WW1 battle. League 1 is fairly easy, tactics wise, you've got 2 options: 1. Two fast wingers and a target man. 2. Aggressive man in the middle with a ball playing buddy following him making through balls to wingers and a poacher And though all but one of the current first team squad were signed under his watch, the manager insists the team’s ills are not squarely his own doing. “I am taking responsibility – when have you ever not seen me take responsibility?” he said. Blaming individual players and sacking staff after a defeat is not taking responsibility, it's scapegoating. “I am one man who stands in the technical area and takes it all and takes responsibility. I am the first person who takes it for myself, my team selection and for everything else. You're the boss of the players and coaching team in the technical area, who else? “But if anyone thinks this is just me, they are wrong. It isn’t just me. This is a collective thing and collectively we need to do better and get better. And until everyone starts taking responsibility and not just me, then we will be OK.” Wrong, the is no collective responsibility YOU'RE NOT A PLAYER Fans have voiced their disapproval for Evatt before this season and unfurled banners home and away in the last tew months. The show of dissention at Rotherham was different, however, and Evatt admits the criticism cuts deep. “Absolutely it is personal, and I take it personally. I should,” he said. “I am not saying it is right or wrong, I am saying I do take it personally. But let me tell you, when the fans are singing that the football is X, Y and Z, and this and that, it isn’t me playing the football, the players should take that personally as well. And this is what I am saying about taking responsibility as a collective, it is not OK, we need to be better than that and the only way we will be better is if the truth is told. The players YOU signed play the way YOU instruct them, in a formation YOU choose, in a play style YOU play them in. “It is no good me coming out here and supporting all the time, I have been there and done that, we are on the same cycle all the time and they need to hear it, publicly. “If everyone thinks it is just me, they are wrong, it is not. It is everybody and everything.” Leave then Asked if the negativity from the terraces was making this a no-win situation for his side, Evatt added: “All I hear is excuses and not one reason. The excuse is that it’s the fans this, or negativity this, manager this – all I hear is excuses, there are no reasons. There is no way that I have set my team up to go and play like that, and I haven’t for four-and-a-half years, I haven’t. This isn’t me taking over as a manager this season and just delivering this, I have been here for four-and-a-half years, everyone has seen what I can deliver. Make of that what you will. It's not like this is a sudden phenomena, people including myself pointed out issues and the fixes for them YEARS AGO. The same reason the good teams used to beat us is EXACTLY the same reason everyone is now beating us. “It is not just about me. It is not just my fault, my problems. Yes, I will take responsibility, of course, but it is about time that these lot hear the truth and they need to hear the truth.” The truth is that you're a League 2 manager incapable of improving because you refuse to listen, your over inflated ego means you'll never understand and thus you'll never improve, you already think you know best and always have.

What's a stretch? Do you think i called him a communist? if you think that, i can only ask you reread what i said.
  20. Zog1 replied to Stig's topic in Terrace Talk
During that 2011/12 season part of the reason we went down is because we recruited from the league below. Players like Chris Eagles, Tyrone Mears, Robbie Blake, Darren Pratley just couldn't cut it in the Premier League. It never ends well when a manager starts spending millions on players that are either the same or worse than he's already recruited. The way Evatt talks about football sounds a lot like how communists talk about the economy. Lots of talk of collective responsibility, a fixed rigid game plan, how changing the manager (Dear Leader) would do nothing. Individual drive and flair being recruited for but being repressed once signed. No wonder players often get caught in possession they're terrified of the gulag of being forced to play with the kids (Sarcevic hinted this).
  21. Zog1 replied to Stig's topic in Terrace Talk
Didn't we beat both Newcastle and West Ham with Pedersen at left back? As i did mention above this would only be a temp solution.
  22. Zog1 replied to Stig's topic in Terrace Talk
Have they or has it been the way IE has them playing that's causing that? Willimas isn't defensively good enough is probably correct, although he has played that position before i believe for Hull. Keep in mind neither were Pedersen or Gardner, it's temporary we don't currently have a player called Mr Agreessive either lol.

Wish Mr ego and chief would play this:

He could sign Prime Stam, Maldini and Cannavaro....He'd make them look as bad as the current lot.
