I've just been having a bit of a ponder about us getting into Europe next season.

 

A week or so ago, people were talking about 7th place possibly making it into Europe - from my workings it would seem that this would now only be possible if Man United play Arsenal in the final.

 

The last thing we want is Blackburn sneaking into Europe by making the final!

 

So we now either need to finish 4th, 5th or 6th or indeed make it to the final against Man Utd (or win the final against anybody) to progress to Europe.

 

Do you think we will make it?

I would love to see it, as it would be a great a experience and an opportunity to test ourselves on the european stage...but i think its sod's law that we'll just miss out, like last season.

 

My guess is we'll finish 7th with no spot in Europe, or 8th with 7th taking the trips abroad (no doubt it'll be boro' too...just to rub it in!!)

If/when we play Arsenal in the next round, at least Campbell will still be out - which is a good thing. (Reyes and Bergkamp will probably be suspended as well)

although the fa cup is the quickest route to europe, with 11 matches left we can prove we are a stronger side by finishing 6th rather than having to rely on the pressure of winning 3 more matches to win the fa cup

though i would love us to win this trophy more than finish higher in the league, we could still do with finishing in the top 8

 

i think liverpool may snatch 4th spot and its possible to catch everton but we will compete with charlton, everton and boro

though i feel us and charlton will finish higher than boro as they are extrememly over rated

I think the league is our best opportunity, but I feel it's still too much to hope for. Even with the season we've had, a top 8 finish would be brilliant. Losing 6 straight Premiership games, coupled with an inability to consistently perform against the lower teams ie WBA, Norwich, Jackburn Fulham, Pompey etc has left us with too much to do.

 

However, a European trip would be much welcomed to shut my next door neighbour (Smoggy) up.
