This week in Bolton history

just to make everyone feel old

Yesterday was 2 years since we beat Boro 2-1 to secure PL status.

Tomorrow will be 4 years since we drew 2-2 at WBA in playoff.

Monday was exactly 6 years since we won 2-0 at Pompey to get into playoffs.

Tuesday was 7 years since we went down at Chelsea.

On saturday it will be 10 years exactly since we lost the 1st playoff game against Wolves, 2-1.

Last sunday was 12 years to the day since we beat Preston at Burnden to win promotion.

Yesterday was exactly 14 years on from beating Chester to earn a playoff place against Bury, which in turn lead to Tranmere at Wembley.

Tomorrow its 15 years since the 1st leg of the Div.3 playoff against Notts C

Friday is also 16 years to the day since we won our last game of the season 3-2 at Northampton in front of 3,655. Were you there? I certainly wasn't.

Last saturday was exactly 17 years on from Wrexham.

This coming saturday is 18 years on from the 1st playoff game against Aldershot, which ultimately dropped us to the 4th.

On monday it was exactly 19 years on from beating Wigan 2-1 to get to the LDV (or whatever it was) final against Bristol C.

20 years ago yesterday we were winning 3-2 at Cambridge in front of 1694. How times have changed - they're out of the league and we're in Europe!.

Finally, this saturday will be 28 years exactly since Kenny Hibbett scored for Wolves with a free kick which ended our promotion chances. That was the biggest crowd at Burnden I've ever been in (35600) and finished off with a pitch invasion by Wolves. Bastards. I can still picture it now.

Happy days!

True fan

Not bitter or owt

But who put that brick through the Aldershot team coach window? And who else joined in with the sit-down protest on the Burnden car park? Or chanted at the Warbies to f*ck off, whilst they watched through the exec. club windows?

'we love the club but we hate the board'

got to admit was living over in yorkshire and very much a part-timer in those days.

I was there - only young at the time but remember singing the warbies out chant with my dad :D

I remember the protest and the chants and was standing next to the coach when the window got put through (saw nothing honest officer). I remember cunts in the exec club window having a laugh as if we'd just gone up never mind down to the 4th.

Coach window thing was a bit daft though - poor sod of a driver got showered in glass and I remember thinking "ah, silly me - there's me blaming the players, the board but no...the main culprit in our decline has now been revealed - yes! The Aldershot team coach driver! Why didnt I think of that before!".

Twas in the exec club that day, was told to move away from the windows, as they were expecting them to be put through.

toodle,pip :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Isn't it amazing how all these things happened in the same week of the year?

:D

I remember the tall streaky editor of Normid Nomad having a small protest after one game. We were outside the exec, with 'Warbies out' across a Union Jack and Phil Neal himself came outside ant told us all to take our bolton shirts home and burn them :-k

Nearly as puzzled as later when he would defend a 3-0 defecit :-k
