Djetou Signs

should help patch up our injury ravaged side

SAM Allardyce has strengthened his defensive hand with the signing of France international full-back, Martin Djetou, on Tuesday afternoon.

Wanderers have finalising a season-long deal with the former Fulham defender, who has been without a club since being released by Nice at the end of last season.

Wanderers had to seek clarification of his "free agent" status from the French Football Federation before completing the formalities.

Djetou, who made his name with Monaco before a lucrative move to Italian club, Parma, was always confident of becoming a Bolton player.

He said before the deal was confirmed: "I have come to agreement with them and I want to play.

"Now Bolton officials have to tell me when I have to join them, as I already have had the medical examinations and everything was fine."

Djetou, who spent two seasons in the Premiership with Fulham, recently had a trial with German club, Duisburg, but was not offered a contract.

Wanderers were keen to sign him because injuries have stretched their defensive resources and they are able to sign the experienced Frenchman outside the transfer window.

Full back? Thought he were a centre back.

Cracking news then, just what we need

defensive midfielder last i heard....

Jobless last time I heard

If he can kick a ball and he's free we'll have him

If he can kick a ball and he's free we'll have him

Since when has the ability to kick a ball been a pre-requisite? :D

Word for tomorrow: Pre-requisite. You must all use it in conversation at some time during the day.

By the way, spell-check accepts Prerequisite, pre-requisite and pre requisite so don't be telling me I've put a hyphen in where it didn't belong!

You can choose to use a hyphen like you have done where the meaning is made clearer by the use of a hyphen Well done :D

If I was a pedant (and brave) I'd point out that EG missed a fullstop out of that last sentence ... :-$

good point - well made.

Lets all laugh at bolton

Not only another reject but a foolham reject

If I was a pedant (and brave) I'd point out that EG missed a fullstop out of that last sentence ...  :-$

That'll teach me to have second thoughts & congratulate someone, won't it?

good point - well made.

are you back wurzel?

And where's your mate Green Smirk.

If I was marking that sentence and I was a pedant I'd do so as follows:

Change your use of the word CAN to MAY.

Comma after the first use of the word HYPHEN and after DONE (first time)

Change LIKE to AS.

Add a comma after DONE.

Full stop after the second use of the word HYPHEN.

Change the word A to THAT.

Exclamation mark after Well done!

So it ought to read:

You may choose to use a hyphen, as you have done, where the meaning is made clearer by the use of that hyphen. Well done!

Lucky I'm not a pedant then! :D

Change your use of the word CAN to MAY. Ooh, no! May gives you permission, can means you are able to - can is correct here, I don't have the power to permit you to do things.

Comma after the first use of the word HYPHEN and after DONE (first time) Well that wouldn't be wrong, but possibly an excessive use of punctuation.

Change LIKE to AS. I wouldn't quibble on the use of either word.

Add a comma after DONE. That would give you two commas after the word DONE (see above) and that's just plain wrong, as would be a comma after DONE without one after the first hyphen.

Full stop after the second use of the word HYPHEN. Yep, I missed it out when, on reflection, I added the words "well done".

Change the word A to THAT. Not when you've used 'a' before the word hyphen earlier.

Exclamation mark after Well done! Exclamation marks are overused. They are the chav of the punctuation world. I was using the smiley as a full-stop. My personal opinion is that excessive use of exclamation marks should be punishable with the death penalty but unfortunately, I've had trouble getting elected with that manifesto.
