In going for Johnson i think allardyce has signalled he wants to overhaul and change the squad and its playing formation, personally i think 7 million for Johnson is 3 million too much, i am sure the money could be better spent spread about the team, any how i do not believe for 1 moment that we have offered 7 million.

On a thread a few weeks we worked out what a likely transfer budget would be for Sam this summer and we got to ??7M - ??10M based on prize money from another top 8 finish, UEFA cash, nowt spent in January transfer window, debts down, Eddie Davies putting a bit more in etc etc.

 

Like many though, I didnt/dont expect Sam to spend most of it on one player. Maybe though he already has the rest of signings lined up on free transfers (Fortune etc) and therefore, wants to splash the cash on one big signing?

 

What formation we will play next season to get the best out of Johnson I am not sure though? A move away from 4-5-1 / 4-3-3?

The Johnson offer is ??7M up front transfer fee with wages on top of this - your comparing this to the same for Diouf but that is ??7M over 3 years including an initial transfer fee of just ??3M.
