Why are Bolton Wanderers such an unattractive proposition for players? I can understand world-class players in their prime preferring to sign for Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool but we seem to get turned down by everyone from young kids to players in the twilight of their career.

Bolton Wanderers have consistently finished in the top 10 of the English Premiership yet players still prefer to sign for a team guaranteed to be in the relegation dogfight like Portsmouth or a club entrenched in mid-table obscurity like Manchester City or Aston Villa.

Bolton Wanderers have some of the best facilities in Europe with state of the art technology and techniques in operation, yet players still prefer to sign for clubs who have all their physio done at the local NHS hospital and serve pie and chips before every game.

Bolton Wanderers have a fantastic stadium the envy of the world over with easy links to the rest of the country yet players prefer to sign for clubs playing in a wooden shed built in 1896.

So why are these players choosing almost any other club over BWFC?

Two reasons in my opinion:

1) Our style of football. Unless you???re Duncan Ferguson or Vinny Jones you don???t want to play for a team that only has one tactic ??? hoof the ball as high and as far as you can and hope someone gets on the end of it. The majority of players want to pass the ball as they???ve been taught since they were little kids. They want to entertain the crowd, not send them running for the exits.

2) Our manager. Let???s face it, outside of BWFC he is pretty much hated. His style of football does him no favours but his continual bleating about refs, the England job, refs, Mike Riley, refs and Mike Riley has turned the footballing world against him. The National Grid have released data that suggests a power surge everytime Allardyce is on screen. The power surge is people changing the channel. Or people sticking their fingers in a plug socket.

When was the last time you heard Allardyce identify a target and then sign him within a few days? Allardyce expressed an interest in Rivaldo, Robert, Fortune, Johnson & Hamman to name just a few, and didn???t get close to signing any of them. FFS Allardyce, put your best offer on the table and if it isn???t accepted straight away move onto another target. You don???t sign players by making a bid in June and waiting until August for a response. The Hamman saga is a disgrace. You let an average player make a fool of BWFC, and now he will no doubt sign for City/Portsmouth/Celtic (delete as applicable).

The season is just 6 weeks away and you haven???t made a single signing of note so far, despite claiming you would have 6 players in by the start of the World Cup. The Chairman claims you have some serious money to spend on the team, yet once again it???s odds-on that your chum Henrik Pederson will start the new season. As he does every season.

Allardyce, get off your fat backside and get some players in. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is available on a free transfer. Forget his age, he still has a season or two left in him and he is still quality. He scores goals you see, something you don???t seem to care much about.

Matthew Upson is available from Birmingham, do you really think you have decent cover at centre-back? Do you still think Jaidi is Premiership quality? You are a fool. And where???s the midfield? You only have about 5 midfielders, and none of them has a creative bone in his body. And what happens when injury or suspension strikes? FFS, you haven???t got a clue have you.

And no doubt come October when we???re firmly rooted in the bottom 3 you???ll be moaning about injuries and the size of your squad.

If we???d had a proper manager in charge this Summer, one who actually took his job seriously rather than trying to be Billie???s replacement in Doctor Who, we???d be in a position to challenge the top 5 again. Just 3 good players would have done it (striker, midfielder & defender), but instead I can only see a long and dirty relegation fight.

true but Bruno was never going to be a first choice this season neither was JJ!!

Well seeing as though Matthew Upson is out for another 4 months he wont be fit untill the begining of next year, so i think that i might just prefer Jadi to play insted of Upson for that time but if he wasnt injured then possibly.

Owen will be out until 2007: COCK.

You're biting. Why? When will this Self- Publicist find a new hobby?

I don???t think anyone can deny it is foolish to release first team players without having a guaranteed replacement. You can argue with me for the sake of it, but I doubt there???s any one of you that is happy with our current squad.
