why does any player go to any club???

i think you'll find the are many considerations for the player along with money...

locality, club size, club history, manager, tactics, training methods, facilities etc etc etc...

i think our training methods are our biggest pulling point... the fact that we have less injuries than most and we enable older players to continue past their prime...

I think that depends on the individual and I think it's a fairly safe bet that Anelka isn't bothered by locality, club size, club history, manager, tactics, training methods, facilities etc etc given that his last 2 clubs are Fenerbache and Bolton.

the fact that you can even form that opinion of a guy you know nothing about apart from what youve read in the press shows your complete and utter ignorance...

Fenerbache are virtually guaranteed european football every year!

Boltons facilities are amongst the top in the prem and will become even better once our ??10million academy and training centre is built!

but Anelka is pretty much driven by the cash! but thats probably no different than any other player!

Our wage system is also structured so that the players get a comparativly low weekly wage and the rest comes as bonuses etc! It's rumoured that Hierro brought in no weekly wage whilst he was here it was all bonuses!

To be honest, there's loads of bias in the media, and you as Bolton fans are going to see a Southern bias.

(I thought there were Midlands and Northern editions of papers though?)

FWIW, I didn't buy all the Bolton long ball merchant stuff that invaribly popped up in every match review featuring yourselves - say it as I see it, and most times we've played you, I see neat passing movement, not an over reliance on speculative long ball stuff.

Reckon the vast majority of it's down to lazy journalism - easier to run with cliches, than to go out and write a fair reflective review of the game.

You think there's a Southern bias - I think there's a massive Spur's bias.

Even when we're written about favourably, it's usually patronising crap, that misses the mark.

Yep, that Samuel's interview is one sided, and misses a lot of points.

But I'll give you dozens of wholly exagerated 'Pardew Out' themed 'match reviews', and the 95% negative speculation and rehashed rubbish that's been aimed at us in the last week.

Decent football journalism offering independent thoughts instead of cliched crap has always been a bit thin on the ground.

Same paper just a different telly page!

To be fair I think the press are setting the traps for West Ham over these Argies.

They are already setting Pardew up for a confrontation with the West Ham board, this morning's paper (Sun?) had a headline of 'Pardew in quit threat' which took his statement about refusing to guarantee anyone a starting spot right out of context.

Thing with us lot, me anyway, is that we are so misrepresented in the press, even if they do acknowledge Sam's training, tactical and motivational methods it's done in a patronising way. They've creamed themselves over Charlton for years, yet we've achieved far more from what was arguably a far worse position, financially.

At least West Ham have some support in the media, we have none... except Alan Hansen!!!

that john nicholson fella from f365 seems to like us but he's a boro fan so not part of the London meeja clique!

Hang on, you've got that Victoria Derbyshire?

Exiled, you're right - nothing they'd love more now, than for it to go completely tits up - it would prove their 'points'.

Siege mentality - nothing better for team morale.

and I agree with your point about Charlton.

mid-table mediocrity.

Statistics and accounts can be pushed around to however you want them to be read. Do you really think that Djorkaeff, Diouf, Ba, Candela, Okocha, Jardel, Anelka, Campo, etc etc went to Bolton to win trophies or because they liked the area? Or perhaps Bolton were prepared to pay bigger wages than anyone else in for them at the time?

As for your question. Very, very good on the face of it. Long term then who knows. I am probably a little wiser than you guys are (purely because it concerns my club) but i still know very little. Could turn out to be the worse thing that ever happens to us. An interesting, exciting, but very worrying time.

Bolton have now established a little niche for themselves, players coming to the end of their carears will consider us because we have a reputation for trainign facilites and approach at the club that lets players extend their playing days, Gary Speed has talked about this a lot in the media.

Of the players you mention, youri was in the reserves in germany, diouf an outcast at liverpool, Ba over-rated, candela only came on loan, jay-jay had never settled at a club before, can we just pass over jardel ?, anelka has cvome for money, campo was going nowhere.

what else gets ignored when talking about our squad is that nolan, obrien vaz te and hunt all came through the youth system.

jussi and gardener must be near 10 years each with the club.

so go through our team

1. jussu see above

2. hunt see above

3. gardener see above

4. tall ben cost peanuts

5. o'brien see above

6. nolan see above

7. campo see above

8. speed see above

9. vaz te see above

10. davies free was goign nowhere

11. diouff see above

i admit putting obrien at centre half is only done to make a point but how many teams in the premiership have 4 players playing regular first team football that have come through the youth team ??

Nolan was actually an outcast himself - Liverpool released him at 15 I think, he then joined our youth set-up (pre-Academy days). Vaz Te however was a highly sought after youngster when we picked him up.

Oh, and "Statistics and accounts can be pushed around to however you want them to be read" is a complete cop out
