What a whopper, Defoe was poached from Charlton's academy, now they are filling their squad with foriegn merceneries. My how I cheered when Stevie G rattled in a 97th minute equaliser.

Dead right, I have a pathological hatred of West Ham since we sent them down

C??nts, do they not remenber 1923? :D

Fat shitehouses like Samuel are precisely why I hate them

Perhaps the most hypocritical piece of journalism I've ever read. Dangerous writing pieces about the team you support but the bit about Bolton is just bitterness. The bit that made me laugh was the headline. He has critisised Chelsea for the last two years for buying the league and selling football out by spending ridiculous amounts on players, and then soon as his beloved West Spam do the same then it is okay because football was ruined already and it is the only way forward. I for one hope they do get bought out and then one day all these benefactors are going to get bored of playing real life Championship manager and we'll have a bunch Leeds situations on our hands. The price of success in the short term sounds good, but in the long term, well I'm not convinced and time will tell.

is the samuel article on-line?

You really need rid that chip from your northern shoulders.

Do you honestly believe the printed press has a southern bias?

Do you honestly believe that it doesn't?

do you honestly believe otherwise?

Yes I honestly believe otherwise. I work with a Rovers and Citeh fan and they don't think there is either. I can't imagine Liverpool or Utd fans would agree either.

I've not read a single post as yet that would even tempt me to believe otherwise.

the stick they got for the cup game (semi?) was way over the top

Yossi you musn't have read some of the articles on us in recent years. The press as a whole aren't necessarily biased against certain unfashionable clubs, but certain hack journalists, such as the fat tw*t mentioned in the thread title, are.

It has to be said that the majority of hacks, sports radio and TV presenters are very London biased. West Ham and Spurs get far more columns and airtime than their record over the last ten years would suggest they should. Hacks tend to be fans of either of these two clubs.

Samuel is one of the worst. However putting this to one side he has had it in for Bolton since Big Sam did the unthinkable and used those dirty "foreigners" to send the hammers down, conveniently forgetting that his own club have signed many over the years.

Its ok for the Arse, chelski, yiddos or the appy ammers, but it was diabolical when Bolton did it on the cheap.

Yossi you must try to read past the headlines and absorb and understand what is written, said and implied.

Talk Sport.....?

Since when has Talk Shite been printed press?

To be honest I think every supporter of every club hates everything about that station with a passion. They're deliberately controversial to get maximum amount of callers.

Whilst I would agree that the article is written badly and contains a lot unneccesary opinion, surely the facts of the article are pretty much spot on?

Are you guys happy with your transfer activity?

I was refering to the media as a whole and not just the redtops. And yes, they do have a Southern bias. Actually, they might not anymore but the few times I have listened it's just been hardcore London blar de blar.

BTW, do WHU not have their own forum? You and WHUJohn must try and set yourself one up. That'll stop the boredom of working on a whelk stall of a day and watching Eastenders of an evening whilst eating pie and mash me owd marra. :)

Tis true that there is quite a high (percentage wise) number of whu supporting hacks but that does not necessarily mean we get good press. McCarthy for example, in The People, is constantly using his article to put west ham down.

I think the bone with Sam and his foreign imports have been because he constantly claims he has no money. Granted the transfer fees he has paid, excluding the obvious exceptions, have been minimal, but he has spent a fortune on signing on fees, bonuses, and wages. That's before any of the shady agent stuff is mentioned.

Since last thursday we have had an incredible amount of negative press (not for the first time).

ignorant of the facts again yossi

we have one of the lowest turnovers in the prem

we're only little bolton, see

last time i looked, only united spent a lower percentage of turnover on wages

so, shut the fooking door

Yossi. I think that you've hit the nail on the head as what you've said mirrors exactly what a lot of us said at the time. Most of us agreed that Mr Doyle made a lot of good points, but that his tone alone revealed his deep dislike of us as a club.

And here is another example of the type of immature journalism to which we have become accustomed....

Yes we do have our own forum. Come join the fun - you'll be made most welcome

One of your lot does pop up from time to time, usually around match time obviously, goes by the name of Plodder iirc.

I get tired of chatting with the same supporters tbh. I enjoy other forums as well, can learn a lot I otherwise wouldn't know.

Afraid that you've been listening to the London media too much again. The last 3 seasons, only Man Utd have spent a lower proportion of their turnover on wages, bonuses and signing on fees.

Next point!

Whilst you're here it would good to hear your opinion of the Argentinian signings. Good or bad?

Statistics and accounts can be pushed around to however you want them to be read. Do you really think that Djorkaeff, Diouf, Ba, Candela, Okocha, Jardel, Anelka, Campo, etc etc went to Bolton to win trophies or because they liked the area? Or perhaps Bolton were prepared to pay bigger wages than anyone else in for them at the time?

As for your question. Very, very good on the face of it. Long term then who knows. I am probably a little wiser than you guys are (purely because it concerns my club) but i still know very little. Could turn out to be the worse thing that ever happens to us. An interesting, exciting, but very worrying time.
