July 14, 200719 yr VEry handy, but it's IF rememebr, and it probably cost a fair chunk of that to be over there for this length of time anyway. ?half mill?
July 14, 200719 yr We still have to play Racing Santander and then if we get to the final probably either River Plate or the reigning French champions for the last six years - Lyon. So let's not count our chickens just yet. http://www.soccerway.com/international/world/peace-cup/
July 14, 200719 yr It wont cost Bolton anything to be there, the organisers will have paid all the expenses. And the 2 million for the winners of the tournament is in US dollars Was going to say. I though the winners got ?1 Million
July 14, 200719 yr Personally, I just think that playing competitive games pre-season is better than strolls out at Stockport or Barnet. It should remind them that there is an edge to competitions and that there are a lot of teams better than us. But.... we can hold our own and with a little more care, more control and some additional quality we can move up in the footballing ranks to pushing the top four in the premiership. Even if it costs us ?500,000 we only need to finish one place highter in the premiership and the trip has paid for itself! Come on you White men.... Let's have the first of three cup final apperances this season.!!! (Ahhhh I can dream !!!!)
July 15, 200719 yr i read an interview with the organiser and Spurs are the holders of the peace cup. Tottenham are the holders, why aren?t they back to defend the trophy? That?s a sad story. We don?t have the rule that we have to invite the champions but many fans wanted Tottenham to come. This season they weren?t sure of qualifying for the UEFA Cup but we had a deadline. Tottenham was the number one choice but they 9th or 10th at the time, so I needed a back-up and Bolton were doing well. Because of the time limit, we had to invite Bolton first. I thought about three teams and inviting Tottenham but that would be against the ideal of the Peace Cup. Tottenham also had other chances too. They couldn?t make a contract with us.
July 15, 200719 yr 2 Million US dollars will do nice, as a couple who said previoursly said id put some of it to jussi's contract. He must of saved us ten points last season worth the money. But i think this tounament is alot better than the farce a few years ago when we played Man shitty, Thai Land u21s at least this tounament we can have a good challenge against some good teams. And if we do reach the fianl i would love to see what lil sam is going to do in terms af tactic, seens as tho we will be playing a big club like lyon or river plate.

July 15, 200719 yr I would love too see how Bolton would hold there own against a top quality European side. Marseilles?
July 15, 200719 yr Author When we played them I wouldnt of called them top quality opposition. suprising you say that ryan, think that marseille were top quality, on the night we played very well but still did not have enough to stop a good marseille team with Ribery particularly impressive. Indeed, that was a decent Marseille outfit. We were bloody unlucky too I thought, a bit of the rub of the green and we would have gone through. I thought the uefa cup was crap until we got into it - and discovered some real handy sides about. Seville and the Russians were very, very good sides.
July 15, 200719 yr we were good enough, and played well enough to knock marseille out was it faye who had the disallowed goal that should have stood that would have been game over
July 15, 200719 yr we were good enough, and played well enough to knock marseille out was it faye who had the disallowed goal that should have stood that would have been game over 1st leg we had a blatant penalty not given too didn't we? Or was that another game? Or actually, did we get away with it? Christ, 33 and my memory is shot to pieces
July 16, 200719 yr 1st leg we had a blatant penalty not given too didn't we? Or was that another game? Or actually, did we get away with it? Christ, 33 and my memory is shot to pieces it was that game and it was Marseille got away with it - possibly 2 penalties even.
could well come in handy for transfer funds.
