Thinking about getting my nephew a Mascot package thingy for Xmas.

 

Can anyone else that has had their kids mascot, please let me know if it was a good experience and worth it?

Me little bro was mascot about 6 years ago and he loved it, although he won it at a junior whites night and then on the day one of the directors' sons was there as well as it was their birthday so of course they got all the attention but Michael Johansen (my brothers favourite player at the time) made sure he got lot's of extra stuff that the directors kid didn't get. althougfh i think my grandad enjoyed it more than anyone.

I always thought it was a privilege thing at being chosen to be a mascot on match days, now it appears to be a money making game with the parents or whoever forking out ?400.

 

Silly me I always thought it was free.

My Nephew was selected to be the mascot at a Newcastle away game about 5 years ago. It was quite an eye opener I have to say.

 

Me, my bro and my nephew drove up to SJP on the morning of the game, we had to buy our own tickets for the game. We went in through the players entrance where we met the family of the Newcastle mascots, they told us they were given a full set of new kit, Trainers and a tour of the ground before being given free tickets for the game. My nephew had to buy his own kit. He was taken into the chnaging room where all the team signed his autograph book and he went out with the team had a kick about with the players and his picture took with both captains and the referee. He loved it but the difference between the way Newcastle treated their mascot and how we treated ours was a shocker.

 

?400 to be a mascot is a bit steep

That sounds odd as my bro got his tickets plus 2 free ones for parents, as he already had the full kit they got him a full tracksuit including trainers.

 

perhaps it changed in between the 2 games.

Get your nephew on the waiting list to be away mascots. It's done strictly on a first come-first served basis so expect him to be waiting at least a couple of years. He needs to be a Jnr. White first though. . . and you need to take him to the away game he eventually gets selected for.

my son has been mascot home and away. at bolton he got trainers various gifts and treated like a star.

at city he also got gifts off bolton and a few bits from ciddy.

 

this was when it was free and an honour, now it is to make money....shame

Sod the kids! I'm thinking of applying to be our mascot in Munich if it gets me into the stadium!

My lad was a mascot for the Rabotnik game (he won it in a junior whites contest), he absolutly loved it , got a pair of top of the range reebok astro turf trainers, met virtually everybody at the the club, all players, LSL even big phil made a point of coming to see him, went in dressing room with all the players, diuof had him playing football in changing rooms with him and the rest of the squad, got all the signatures and pictures with the players. They even sent about 20 photos of him with the officials and players, with lofty and even a large official UEFA one with him on the end of the squad photo. He was really looked after by everyone. He definately enjoyed every minute, and his words when he left were "all his dreams had come true" . They definately made another wanderer for life.
