He's a cock munch. I used to work with him, it was mint yesterday as everyone in work was saying "ah well. couldnt have happened to a nicer bloke" tongue firmly in cheek.

I'll never forget when George Oghani played for Burnley, he was in front of the Burnden terrace and we were giving him absolutely loads of grief, he was getting upset and this was exacerbated when someone threw a banana at him, as he was raging at the terrace, that old timer Leighton James (Burnley player) walked over, picked the banana up, peeled it, then started eating it , he defused the situation so easily. Abuse has always been part and parcel of the game.

I don't think him being a big girl's blouse is related to his sexuality, and frankly I couldn't give a running f?ck who he shags or what colour skin he has. Thing is though, if he is gay, why not just come out, get stick for a few weeks then folk usually move on to their next victim and a more topical joke.

He's really set himself up for more stick now. Silly boy!

If we threw a banana at Sol Campbell he'd probably sit on it.

I got threatened by the steward behind me at Liverpool for giving the w@nker gesture to their fans.. and we got told to sit down god knows how many times.

The matchday experience is being killed by these sorts of people.

goes with the job for me. too much nicey nicey taking over in football. racism no to but general abuse hurled from the terraces is part of the banter that makes it worth going.

shilton dealt with it well as i remember he got loads of sh1t as his missus tina had played away. down at home park early 90's he was in nets for plymouth we gave him loads of 'if you've shagged shilton's wife claps your hands' and the rest. he turned round and gave us the v's, top response and had us all laughing. didn't go bleating to the press.

That was a good game - I also seem to remember "Shilton where's your wife - Shilton Shilton where's your wife" & just the general abuse of "Tina the slag"!!

There were also a few Plymouth in our end because it was cheaper than theirs for some reason, but they didnt last long.

::::::lol:::::: :good:

Kennedy got away with it apparently as well. The judge used a bit of common sense and just said everyone does it in grounds up and down the country regardless of whether its in bad taste or not!

Neville does admit that footballers need to conduct themselves better if they are to win back the respect and support of the public.

He said: "As footballers we don't help ourselves and we need to handle ourselves on and off the pitch a lot better.

"It is a small minority of players that misbehave but perhaps we don't set the best example to young players coming through also.

"With the vast amount of money we earn then we have a lot of responsibility to behave properly."

The former Manchester United star also feels that young players aren't being disciplined as strongly as in years gone by.

"The young kids growing up don't seem to have the discipline we had and there is a softness coming through in the young players," he said.

"They are paid vast amounts of money buy they don't seem to be working for it.

"Maybe it is a case of too much too soon but there doesn't seem to be the toughness there that I had."

religion only

Do you think so? I'm not sure I'd agree.

edit: actually you may be right as you can convert. I suppose it is a religion & culture rather than race

Point taken.

Just going to draw more attention to himself

Don't think he was too keen on the "Sol wants Brighton in the cup" and "You're only here for the sailors" songs last time your favourite team in London were down at Pompey, but it's probably some of the other stuff that's he's going on about.

Agree with others that it was far worse years back, and reckon he's being a bit OTT, but bit ironic that while fans from all teams have said he should just ignore it and get on with his job, the songs that get to Sol the most come from Spurs. And they in recent times are the first ones to kick up to all kinds of authorities when other similar type stuff gets sang.

Happy Christmas
