M G WHITES Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 to get this off my chest. Did anybody else read Steven Gerrards comment in the Daily Mirror "Todays the day when Havant and Waterlooville's dream dies" Just a shame he couldn't show the same attitude against Croatia at home, Macedonia at home, Portugal in the Euro's and World Cup and everytime he puts an England shirt on. I think they are just the words of a bully. Thank you.
Carlos Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 The difference being, at least 2 of those teams listed are actually better than England, in no world can Havant & Waterlooville ever match Liverpool. Gerrard is hampered for England by having to cover for the liability that is Frank Lampard.
Casino Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 gerrard is even more hampered by not being the world class player he and the english media seem to think he is

Havant can never match Liverpool you are right there but Portugal are not better than England imo If he whould have come out on the morning on the game v portugal and said "today the day were portugal go out of the world cup" I whould have not started the topic. I am just mad that because of players like gerrard and lampard next summer is a non event.
Carlos Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Sorry i dont agree. Havant can never match Liverpool you are right there but Portugal are not better than England imo Of course they fcuking are, end of.
Whites man Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Sorry i dont agree. Havant can never match Liverpool you are right there but Portugal are not better than England imo Results suggest Portugal are better than England.

Whites man Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Players suggest Portugal are better than England. We are shit Given the right manager picking the right players with the right formation and right tactics then we can win tournaments. Steve McClaren stumbled across a winning formation with Barry holding midfield and then went back to the tried and failed Gerrard/Lampard showboating nonsense for the Croatia game. From what I have read Capello and his "iron fist in an iron glove" style is the man for the job, think we have every chance in 2010.

All that doesn't hide the fact that we can't knock the ball around like other countries. We are a nation of 'getting stuck in' and 'working hard'. Other nations can make the ball work much better than we can which is why I believe we aren't good enough

We are a nation of 'getting stuck in' and 'working hard'. Other nations can make the ball work much better than we can which is why I believe we aren't good enough maybe a reason for this lies in underage football, know its been discussed before, but i was out this morning watching my son in an under 12. the number of trainers that shout "get rid of it" the minute a kid gets the ball is un believable, makes them scared to get it in the first place if you ask me, then as they get older lads who are in defence are only considered good if they can "get stuck in", rather than what they do with the ball once they get it because a good hoof down field will usually suffice as long as they "get rid of it". not saying kids football shouldn't be competitive, it should, but should be more encouragement for kids to "keep it" to develop comfort on the ball. imo.
