I'm 99% certain my passport only expires in 2010, but I'm going to have to check now anyway, or it'll play on my mind. Just like i'll check my bag 20 times on the way to the airport that I haven't forgotton it!

I could have joined this thread until Friday when I had a last minite appt at the passport office in Liverpool!

No, sometimes I carry on looking for stuff, just for the sake of it.

Apparently SSM has found his old one. But its been cancelled and Liverpool aren't playing ball so his new one has not arrived today and he's up the creek now. An offer of a ride over to Liverpool to sort out - but apparently they don't deal face to face anymore.

For a new application. SSM put his in the post over 2 weeks ago.

Difference is, they won't dig out an application that was posted and just process it there and then.

They also won't let him bring his old passport back to be revalidated.

Seems like an arse of a system.

With respect, That's bollocks.

 

Various options are available, based on the fee payable, when you put in the application, dependant on the date of travel, including a 4hr turnaround.

What they won't do, is start chasing around after you decided to take the cheapest option which incurred risk ogf it not being returned in time.

I paid the extra at the post office for the "Check and Send" service thingy, I think it cost me another ?8 but I got my new passport back in less than a week. (No use now by the way but a consideration for future reference).

TBH - SSM ain't the kinda lad to scrimp and save on an application fee.

 

And I know for a fact that the Check & Send doesn't always come back guaranteed in time.

My dad will vouch for that. And your passport ain't always processed in Liverpool - his was done by the Glasgow office.

And whilst they admitted they'd f?cked up turning it around in time - they told my dad to just cancel his trip.

but then the counter staff say "oh, they have to print that, don't worry, it'll be back in time no worries."

He paid to get his passport back in a couple of weeks cos this is the service, because at peak times they can not gaurantee the service they introduce this fast track service.

 

So because someone has not paid for the premium service even though it maybe outside their service levels they wont help him out ?

 

That is just ragging rubbish.

 

Your point would seem a bit more valid if it was not middle of Feb, hardly peak ragging season, they should offer a proper service not think it is ok to charge more when they can not be arsed. ragging lazy scouse twats maybe the real problem.

A - forget where they keep their passport

B - Not go for the guaranteed option, and instead rely/expect a goverment department to drop everything and 'sort me out now' when the sands of time start running out.

SSM is a silly arse, i aint denying that.

 

But it is wrong that when they had the application for so long that they will not jump it to the top.

 

Financial mafia ???? i used to be rich then.......

I applied for my new one in October. Filled it in online and got the form through completed. Went to the post office for the check and send service and they said they couldnt do a check and send coz it was completed via the internet. Ended up sending it off and using the online tracking to find out where the application was upto. Ended up getting it back in a week.

 

Think you used to be able to just turn up in Liverpool and get a passport, now I think its appointments only
