English boxing champ Amir Khan has delivered a stunning blow to the players of his beloved Bolton Wanderers.

 

The Olympic lightweight silver medallist said: "I don't know if the players are training hard or not but they are doing something wrong because you can see the fitness isn't there."

 

"I've got my own boxing club now and I've always said if Bolton want to come down for extra training sessions or something different they are welcome.

 

"Nowadays you get a lot of different sports taking up boxing to get fit and I'm willing to give them that chance.

 

"Come to my boxing club and go through some circuits and stuff and get stronger."

 

He added: "It's a shame what's happening to Bolton. They are not getting the results but I believe we just need a bit of luck on our side.

 

"In my sport I'm the only one who knows what I'm going to be like. I'm the only guy in the ring so I can only blame myself - but the football team can blame each other."

 

His comments about fitness are quite correct. That is one big difference with the players under Lee and Megson compared to FSA - we just don't look as fit and can't last the 90 minutes.

Fair enough. Not living in the town, i am not fully conversant with the lads driving habits. I got nicked on Monday on the M74 south of Lockerbie doing 98.7 MPH so I was told, so i have no room to talk. Got a parking ticket in Glasgow on the same day, probably just as well we lost to Lisbon, another trip to Glasgow would probably get me banned.

When YOU spend your hand earned money to build a local boxing gym where enough white kids come in to have a bash around, you maybe qualified to speak about Amir Khan. Whether its for publicity or not. Those kids should have been provided with a youth club or some local amenities by the council.
