I didn't know what you were on about at Hull, Smiley. So that was Smiths who shook my hand was it. I didn't know never having met him. In any case there was no problem on my part with Smiths. My bone of contention is with another person.

Firstly, I might have been a little arsey with my reply to Smiley's question: but the painkillers are kicking in now and I'm a bit more relaxed.

 

Smiley's referring to very old news: which is dead and buried as far as I'm concerned. As long ago as before the Macedonia expedition, myself and Zozzy had a good chat and that was the last time I've really seen him.
