I do not understand why you need 2 holding players, it leaves you lightweight elsewhwere, and as carlos points out when Muamba sprung forward on a couple of occasions there was no outball for him or any decent support, surely 4-5-1 is defensive enough, again there must be a case of playing either Mcann or Muamba and not both.

Liverpool play 4-2-3-1 it hasn't hindered them any

With marginally better players?

With marginally better players?

aye just a bit!

so playing 1 defensive mid, would make us defensivley weaker, yes?

i believe the thinking with 2 defensive, then the 3rd attacking midfielder can actually support the front man more often. (very spanish football)

allardyce always had 1 defensive, but that player rarely crossed the half way line. and i dont beleive the 2 attacking had much license to get forward.

On the bright side McCann breaking his toe may be a blessing in disguise

It will break up the Nolan/McCann central midfield which in my opinion is the heart of the problem of our mediocre side.Muamba will play now and at least he has some energy/athleticism which those two don't.

I'd keep Nolan out of the side till he's got down to an acceptable weight ie whatever it was in 2001/02 when he scored 8 goals and play Muamba with someone who can pass the ball,if there's noone in the squad who can do that then bring someone in.

muamba is the worst player i have seen since ian moores.

I put it to you that you have zero understanding of football. Kaka he isn't, to say he's worse than the likes of Djibril Diawara, Oscar Perez and Paul Wheatcroft is utter nonsense.

have you been blind since then?

Sensational first post big feller. Keep up the good work. Those fooking national team selectors know nowt eh mate?

He has represented England at all under-age levels, and captained the U-19 team. He received his first call-up for England U-21 for the friendly against Romania U-21 played on 21 August 2007 at Ashton Gate, Bristol, and made his debut as a second-half substitute.

I thought he played well too but our best players was Muamba

Another case of Meggers being damned if he does, damned if he doesn't

Eh? That's nothing to do with Megson.

Megson signed him and played him, and somehow from one game 2 completely opposite views were formed

Is it not a case of someone on here talking utter bollocks (unusually!). I don't know how you manage to twist that round.
