Standard of refs leaves me amazed.

 

Having just watched the Liverpool / Chelsea highlights, Riley was wrong on all 3 counts.

 

Gerard - lucky to be on the pitch for that lunge - it was dangerous and high and Riley had a good view.

 

Lampard - shocking decision, if he has any doubts then should hold back from showing a red and given he was running away from the incident and only turned at the last moment to see it he couldn't be certain.

 

Bosingwa - Speechless. If the arguement is that a free kick has just been given and therefore play was dead, I suggest next time we play the scum and the ball is dead, SKD lands a haymaker on that tw*t Neville!!

 

Mike Riley - he lives in Leeds and if I ever bump into him it won't be pleasent.

The Gerrard tackle was dodgy, should have been a yellow IMO, with a stern warning

 

The Lampard one I can forgive Riley for, clearly was not a red or even a foul but if he saw it at the wrong moment / angle it could have looked a shocker, over the top of the ball tackle

 

The Bosingwa one was farcical, just farcical

 

Some of these refs/linesmen just seem paralysed by fear. And Riley doesn't seem the type of guy to be among the best in the country at anything, let alone involved in high level sport.

In fairness, Riley did quite clearly tell the players to "calm down" after the Bosingwa kick.

That makes it ok then I guess.

 

Listen fellas, I realise you're all over paid, over-hyped primadonas and Bosingwa has just tried putting his foot through someones spine but let's calm it down eh? I've already sent off a media darling and, if I was to send off Bosingwa too I'd be all over the back pages tommorrow for taking Chelsea out of the title race. It'd make me famous, it'll ensure that I get picked up by Sky Sports to be a pundit when I retire.

Riley has withdrawn the red card for Lampard and has even phoned Frank to apologise. Boswinga is getting away with his misdemeanour because although Riley says he did not see the incident the assistant ref clearly saw it and no action was taken. The FA cannot get involved.
