I'm sure Jussi will be devastated by your absence.

If it was away from home, it'd be a reasonable warm-up game.

As it's a testimonial: it'll be a home game and that represents shit opposition for a home friendly.

Couldnt agree more with that, surely we could of got a big name team to play :pardon: Its recognition for 10+ years service to the club and we organise a game against Hibernian

I've had time to think about it, and it's not even shit!

Get a decent European outfit in to play us, not a Championship standard bunch of rags.

what about reeeeecardooooooooooooooooo?

He needs to play a team managed by a Jamaican for his, so as soon as Johnny Barnes is back in the hot seat somewhere it'll get sorted :good:

Who is the manager of Hibs and who is one of Jussi best friends from over the years ever since both starting out at Burnden Park?

Now is Hibs a strange team to play or is it Jussi's idea to play a team managed by one of his ex-colleagues and current best friends

Didn't Jaaskelainen join us after we moved to the Reebok?

And hadn't Mixu already left by then?

In 1997, Bolton Wanderers signed Jussi Jaaskelainen for a whopping ?1 million for which he has made 346 league appearances. (http://jussijaaskelainen.net/)

Mixu - 1994 to 1997 season.

They had a part of one season together at Burnden Park.

Plus both Finnish and possibly both played in the National Squad at the same time (not too sure).

Mixu left in July/August 97.

Stadium opened in September 97

Jussi signed in November 97.

All if I recall correctly that is.

PS 96/97 and 97/98 are classed as different seasons.

And another thing: that site you quoted is bollocks:

"In 1997, Bolton Wanderers signed Jussi Jaaskelainen for a whopping ?1 million for which he has made 346 league appearances. In 2001, Jussi Jaaskelainen made a commendable save for Bolton Wanderers at the premiership, winning the game 2-1 against Lancashire."

Who the fuck are Lancashire?

Hey your right about the Reebok - hadn't realised it was that old now!!!!! I honestly thought the first season was 98/99!

There is some connection between the two - otherwise why would have paid GBP100,000 for him (not a bad price considering how long and how good he is!!!!)

I always thought Mixu left in the 98 season - thats where my confusion came from.

That why i didn't quote that bit - I saw that and wondered myself - plus I knew the price was wrong! Wasn't Dean Holdsworth our first GBP1miilion player (don't know and a serious question)?

Now then, Dutchy:

Asking who our 1st ?1m player is, always generates a discussion.

I know who it is though: but let's see what other answers we get.

PS I'm waiting for a response to the FAO Dutch White thread!

Ged Taggart??

Take anything you like from the bottom shelf: you are a winner.

It's not normally the one people think of.

McAnespie was just under a mill and Ged came just before Blake.
