i look forward to renewing my friendship with my old mates at prenton park.

COME ON YOU WHITES!!!

Excellent draw, I?ve missed not playing the rat eaters, fucking smelly bastards.

have no idea

student area

main pubs are a clout fest

no time fer 10 pin bowling

Zico's right.

Headingley, as a drinking zone, goes from proper pubs like the New Inn and pretty much ends with the Skyrack.

Oak, Box, Arc and Trios in term time will be full of high-grade clunge. Apart from the students its a pretty nice area.

I cant think where this retail park / bowling alley is, but it sure aint Headingley.

I used to drink for free in the New Inn. They had a quiz night two evenings a week. The first prize was a gallon of beer and the second prize half a gallon. If I didn't win the first prize I won the second prize.

that's the one

went in there after we beat em 4-2 that sunday

it was like attending some sort of beauty pageant where the criteria was filth

Biff, that almost sounds like, "If I was really thirsty, I'd win a gallon, if not, just the 4 pints."

Did the team once come away without using their facilities i.e. shower, hospitality etc. Or was I dreaming.

That was Allardyce iirc. We turned up at the latest possible time, then got straight on the team bus home at full time. Can't remember why though, but I thought it excellent at the time.

Just found this from 2003.

Bolton resume hostilities
December 14, 2003

ON the face of it Bolton's FA Cup pairing with Tranmere Rovers doesn't look to be among the tastier third round ties.

However, there's been no love lost between the clubs in recent seasons and Wanderers can expect a frosty reception at Prenton Park on January 3.

Much of the acrimony stemmed from John Aldridge's time in charge of the Wirral club and the perceived gamesmanship of his side .

Finding a gap

Sam Allardyce was certainly riled by the ability of Dave Challinor to always find a gap between the perimeter advertising hoardings in which to hurl his long throws, the availability of towels to dry the balls which would then disappear for Bolton players and the swiftness of the ballboys to get replacement balls back into play.

The mind games definitely worked in Tranmere's favour as they defeated Wanderers 4-0 on aggregate in the 2000 League Cup semi-finals.

In fact, Bolton's 1-0 victory the following season in their promotion year was their first at Prenton Park since January 1990.

But hostilities still lingered as Bolton arrived already changed and ready to play and then left immediately the match finished.

Wanderers claimed it wasn't a deliberate snub to Tranmere's hospitality but few were convinced.

Allardyce though doesn't foresee any problems this time.

"We had a bit of a tete a tete when Aldo was in charge and the players did as well," he said.

"But most of their players from that time have gone and so have ours.

"Since then, though, they've gone in a downward spiral and we have gone in an upward one.

Changing fortunes

"It just shows you how quickly the fortunes of football clubs can change."

Brian Little is now the new manager in charge at Prenton Park.

"I have known Sam him since I was 17 or 18 when I was playing at Villa and he was at Bolton," he said.

"They were always tough games against him.

"I suppose I have always done okay against Sam, but he can say the same about me.

"However, it's a great draw for us and I'm pleased to be at home."
