Bolton Wanderers Disability Football Club

I don't know if anyone is aware but BWFC have a disability football club that train on Wed nights at Smithills School, 5 till 6, costs ?2, this to pay for the room etc but I know they aren't covering costs.

The age group is up to 16 years old and if anyone knows somebody with a disability that wants to train & play football with a BWFC coach then check out the web page http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/DisabilityFootb...0,,1004,00.html

The coach Steve is excellent, my lad started going three weeks ago and he loves it.

Steve's contact details are on the web site.

I take C86 Jnr out 4 times a week to various activities, they are all good but seriously this is the best hour he has, never shuts up afterwards.

I also run/coach a Sat Soccer Club for kids (7 - 11) with Autism and other social situation difficulties, kids who wouldn't cope playing in a normal football side.

I'm a qualified FA coach, got my badge :good: and also been CRB checked.

If anyone is interested then contact Bolton Kidz2gether via email at info@kidz2gether.org.uk tell them Ian sent you. It is 10.30 till 12 term time, I think its ?2.50/?3 and you can leave to do shopping etc.

We have 3 qualified staff who work with children with this type of Special Needs.

Thanks for reading =D>

A very worthy cause.

Pinned.

Full credit to you and the other staff, and the young 'uns that take part. As Traf said, a worthy cause :good:

All the coaches involved with this kind of thing are better people than most of us could ever wish to be.

Fair play to you, I dont have any personal experience of this kind of thing but any type of volunteer gets the thumbs up from me.

Slight point of order though, isnt wanderersways full of dick heads, hooligans, racists and sexists? Isnt C86 ruining our reputation?

Terrace talk isn't.

The rest of the site: definitely.

Surely BWFC should cover the cost of this.

I understand what you are saying but please don't use this thread to have a go at the club (I'm not have a dig at you FD), they do enough.

With regards to my club, we get the room and I take no payment.

Dealing with autistic children can be very exasperating and it really tries your patience: My 4 1/2 year old daughter has Asperger's Syndrome and I know, from a personal viewpoint, how mentally demanding it can be to just deal with my own child, so hats off to these guys who run the courses.

Traf, I guess your not into X Factor, but there is a guy on this weekend who has Asperger's syndrome and he is meant to blow everyone else out of the water (Isn't it usual for people with Aspergers to excel in certain things?). I have already made him favourite to win, without being seen on telly yet.

Yes, mate: academically she's very clever. She has a reading age of 12 and is already learning 3 foreign languages. Asperger's children struggle in social situations / team building etc: this is why the coaching sessions will be difficult to teach, but massively beneficial to all.

What I meant was wanderersways is percieved by some to be full of undesireables, no brain thugs etc. This thread shows AGAIN that ww has some half decent lads and lasses :drinks:

sorry :pardon:

sorry :pardon:

Once MCB always MCB :D

Sarcasm doesnt always work on titnternet.

What you do C86 is a worthy cause and it isnt a "fashionable" one, the next time we have any type of wways fundraiser I reckon we put some of the money to it. Personally I prefer to support the "unfashionable" charities and it is something "close to home" for some posters on here.

Could a match be arranged between your team and "conventional" team? Someone on here must run/know someone who is involved in kids football, could make a day of it raffles, football cards etc Iam sure the kids would love it, raise a couple of quid and we can get pissed, everyones a winner.

I think Henry's got something here.

I think we should organise an end of season do (like we used to!) and raise some money for these types of organisations.

Maybe not something as large-scale as Brixton's charity dinners, but something where we can have a laugh and a few beers and support some worthy causes.

I don't mind doing the bulk of the organising/running around (I've fuck all else to do at present!), but I would like some help if that's at all possible.

Your comments please?

Autisum/Aspergers is in the news lot, the problem is it not in most cases its not as visual as a physical disability.

Maybe WW Stars could play the BWDFC (I'd have to ask Steve), most of mine on a Sat wouldn't cope.

BWDFC have an open age team that play against local teams like Oldham.

Please spread the word about BWDFC it needs more players and it will then self fund itself instead of relying on funding/grants.

Just to say again BWFC do a lot for the community but they cover all schools in Bolton and its not an bottomless pot.

All my lad wants to do is play football. like most kids his age (10) do.

I know my open age side would take part in a charity game.

I've posted it on the-wanderer and on Burnden Aces too.

C86 I am organising a race night for the vets football team and we were looking for a local charity/organisation to donate some of the proceeds to.

Think weve found the solution.

I will let you know further details when Ive sorted it :good:

UPDATE

Steve the coach at BWDFC knows all about this thread, I believe his owd fella comes on here, introduce yourself :good:

Djorkaeff is running a "WW Vets" race night in Nov to raise funds for the team plus give some to charity. He asked if BWDFC and Bolton Kidz2gether would like to benefit, I have snatched his hand off. I'll let Djorkaeff post the details of the Race Night, sure mods will make sticky.

WW Owd Men V BWDFC Mixed players

Steve wants a match between WW and BWDFC, "A FRIENDLY" lads :pardon:

With Steve?s working as a coach at BWFC he obviously as contacts etc.

He is going to ask permission to play the match at the Reebok at the end of the season, use the match as an opportunity to publicise BWDFC, WW? etc. This not definite, in the early stages but would be good eh?

C86

Great idea.
