Potholes

I hit a pothole on a road this morning and since then there has been a clunking sound from the steering.

Are there any highways experts on here who can tell me who is responsible for the repair of the hole and also can I claim compensation off them for any repairs to my car.

Cheers

don't think you can claim compo i'll ask the legal eagles next door though just to check.

bolton council have borrowed an extra 2 million to add to 1 million pinched from other budgets to fix some of the worst potholes in the borough. the problem is thanks to years of woeful under funding it's still 47 million short of what's needed to get all the roads. to a decent standard

The pothole was in Macclesfield but I will go now and take some pics.

Thanks

Thought it had to have been reported 14 days prior so that the council could act before they are liable. The roads in Bolton are woeful. Chew Moor Lane / St. John's Road in Lostock is more like a long pothole with pieces of road here and there rather than a road per se. Atrocious!

the roads are falling apart in harwood

It's the same everywhere.

If the money given in fuel tax and vehicle tax to the treasury was spent on maintaining the road it'd be reet but the shortfall nationally is in the billions.

You're not wrong about them falling apart everywhere.

COR heading back into Bolton just before you turn up Victoria Road, nearly lost my front wheels

Then same day heading down Crompton Way at the junctions of Thicketford Road and fook me, it's that deep nearly went to see Bolty58 in Oz.

Bell Lane in Bury is 90% reinstatements.

A big cause of most holes and dips in the road are shonky reinstatements by the utilities companies and the Councils refusing to use their powers to get tham back to do it properly.

The ice and snow have made them worse,

Yeah the costs i quoted above were before the recent bad weather, fuck knows what it'd cost now.

Boothy, take a trip down st johns road now! They resurfaced it last week, billiard table smooth! About time like, it always made me laugh why they bothered putting speed bumps on a road that looked like the somme......

Spot on; Contractors etc get away with fookin murder on Council work (not just roads, roofers etc)- the hidden costs to the council (and ultimately the public) must be enormous

My street is unadopted and is so lumpy and bumpy and full of craters that even in a 4X4 you get chucked all over. Im not complaining, i do it on purpose beacuse its cheaper than going to Alton Towers and as much fun.

I rue the day someone slips our traveleling friends some tarmac money and my fun is spoiled. And yes, im perfectly aware i will have to have my suspension rewelded...again! But hey, a girls gotta have some action!
