if they want a cheap hotel in agreat location then Excaliber is best, if they have a bit more cash, MGM Grand

Everything they need to know

I'd personally recommend Bellagio

Watch the Ka show at the MGM, considered Cirque du Soleil's best show, don't pay for the best seats, go one or maybe two steps cheaper as the most expensive are too close to the stage to appreciate it.

Depends on budget, but MGM is a good compromise between quality and price, obviously the Bellagio, Wynn & Mandalay are really nice. Stay away from the Stratosphere though, its a dump.

There is a steak/burger restaurant on the way into Mandalay from the Luxor which does the best Kobe burgers going, lovely!

The restaurant up the Eiffel Tower is nice as you can watch the Bellagio fountains whilst dining, food is reasonably priced too; unfortunately the wine list is not - cheapest is about $70!

Try Expedia for comparing cost of holidays, sometimes they can work out a lot cheaper than others, sometimes not but worth checking, as is flights as some can take fucking ages with connections all over the place.

Mirage......right in the centre of the "strip", all rooms have been renovated in the last 12 months. Huge pool complex (prob too chilly now though)

google vegas hotel codes, loads of deals

Chilly in Nevada?

Stayed in the MGM in one of the suites on our honeymoon, twas very nice, there's some proper ropey hotels out on the strip, full of the sort of folk who find blackpool alluring.

One of the girls at work has been a few times and reckons MGM is her favourite

Pay that little bit more for one of the main hotal slap bang in the middle of the strip, MGM grand is very good but if i went again would stay nearer middle of the strip.

at least one day go to the buffet breakfast at MGM grand.

do go the canyon, best bet is flying there and helicopter in.

in terms of shows they now have 2 or 3 of these discount ticket booths so you can buy tickets on the day for about 50% of cost for most shows, we saw phantom of the opera and it was brilliant. (i hate to admit) as was david copperfield.

get to the designer outlet mall 'downtown' so cheap it is incredible. i actually did nt like downtown in the evening, seemed quite seedy, use the monorail on some days but it is worth walking the strip to take the sites in.

watch the watershow at caesers palace from the strip in an evening.

it aint a relaxing holiday but a brilliant one. although compared to afghanistan i suppose it might seem quite relaxing.

I agree with Ani, do the Grand Canyon but pay for the flight in (coach takes forever!) and then a heli down through the canyon to land at the bottom, was really good.

I'd love to go again, if I did I would stay at the Bellagio if funds allowed, if not the Paris is nice enough.

Avoid the nobbers trying to give you a free show ticket if you attend their seminar and such bollocks.

If they do the first Grand Canyon flight of the day (think ours was 0630!)you get really good deal, and with jet lag you are awke early anyway, plus gives you more time in rest of day in Vegas, Hoover Dam is impressive.

Also we stayed in Bally's next to Paris & opposite Bellagio, great location, was miles cheaper than any of the others close by as ithe decort was a little dated in the casino, but the rooms were good, the pool was fine and you can go to any of the others to gamble in any case!

me + 11 are going vegas in august for 10 days

in the luxor 4*, ?850 flights inc.

fly from manc to Ny to vegas, then coming back vegas to atlanta to manc.

if you want i can give you the name and number of the the travel agent and you can have a see to see what they can do for you.

just drop me a message on here if your interested

we stayed in the Imperial Palace one time which was fine, depends on how much more it costs but i know last time we went for not that much more you could stay in one of the big hotels which did add to the vegas experience.

Vegas itself is the greatest show on Earth!!!

stayed at the Excalibur and the Luxor - the Luxor is much nicer for a couple id have said - Excalibur is a bit shabby, and its casino isnt very impressive compared to most of the others - great location tho!

Can get very cold at this time of year, it was 45 last July but temp in Feb is around 12-18.......don't think i'd want to lay around the pool with a pinacolada in that

As its out of season now you should get some decent prices in the best hotels.

We stayed Mandalay Bay last year and it was awesome. They got a fake beech, wave pool, lazy river, and a few other pools. My advice would be check with the hotel that all facilities and pools are open as we have stayed at NY NY before in november and pools were closed for maintenance.

Your best off eating at buffets every night as they are such good value for money, and IMO the best evening buffett is Treasure Island.

We found the cheapest place to book excursions from was in the shopping arcade kind of next to and under MGM grand.

Cirque de soleil shows are good, seen a few, and O was probably best IMO. As stated previously, you dont need to buy the most expensive seats. we bought cheapest and still had a great view.

Cheapest flights we have used in the past are with American Airlines, from manchester via chicago.

i usually book direct with the hotel for rooms but when you find the hotel you want see if you can get it cheaper anywhere else.

Vegas is awesome.

Good choice, make sure you eat at the ESPN Zone next door. Giants screens all over and your own TV on your table with all the sport on.

Edit: just seen its for your daughter and her boyfriend, oops.

Bugger, thats a shame! My fave place of all time is Las Vegas, wish I could go back! :(

A bit jadded by the place as I go through Vegas all the time from work, but New York New York is pretty central to all the big strip hotels, the new Elvis show opens this week, tell them to check out the Mini Legends show, if they need a bit of home comforts or watch the Footy then the best place is The Crown and Anchor on Tropicana Ave, today it was only 60 degrees, but we are having rain here in L.A. so that should hit Vegas later this week, the latest fad here now is all day buffets they are about $20 and you can eat all day, Breaky, Lunch and dinner...there are only 2 cheap places left to get a bevvy there is O'Shea's which is kinda opposite Ceasers Palace they have a 16 hour "Happy Hour" on Saturdays with a midget running along the bar, then there is a little place called Slots of Fun right next door to Circus Circus that has cheap beer, otherwise all the big hotels charge about $8 a beer, there are plenty of liqure stores to get some 12 packs so they can have a few before they turn out, they should take a taxi and go to either Chinatown or Thaitown for evening meals which are all great restarants and far better than the buffets, for shoping they should go to The Beltz outlet mall which is just south of the airport on the strip so the bus runs right to it, talking of buses, they would be better getting a day pass than paying every trip, make sure they head downtown at night time to see The Freemont Street Experience, which is a roof 4 blocks long that turns into a massive t.v. screen that shows programmes on the hour, the downtown area is the original Vegas so the prices are alot better than up on the strip, tell them to go to see the conciege at their hotel and ask for any discount coupons that they may have, they will save you money, as for the Grand Canyan tour, if they could get on the outskirts of Vegas ie Henderson then it's half price of what they would pay getting the trip on the strip, and believe me they are not missing anything by not seeing the Hoover Dam....hope they have a great time and leave the place in one piece
