Clubcall and EatsleepFootball(I Know) are reporting that Alonso has now signed.

I really hope this is true mate, he looks and sounds a talent, our left side will be vastly improved from last season, Petrov is looking sensational in pre season so far, I have never rated Robinson, I understand he puts in a shift, but I like attacking wingbacks, as long as we have cover for when he overlaps etc.

If we can't get a striker, we might go 4-5-1, with 2 sitters, another along Muamba, to allow our wingbacks to get forward. Our defence wasn't good last season so it'll be interesting to see what Coyle does with the side.

Can see us playing 4 5 1 also. petrov lee wide, holden muamba and one other in the middle.

VERY HAPPY WE'VE SIGNED A LEFT BACK (if its the case we have), always a priority for me with the tripe we had playing there last season. At least the manager has seen that*

* I'll be honest though havent seen anything of this Alonso

Let's hope he makes more of an impact thna the last Alonso we got lumbered with.

ahh, the old, 'i've never seen him play but he's foreign so he must be good' method of judging a player

Im going off the basis both the fans and the coaches at Real Madrid think he's a promising player for the future. And if one of the biggest clubs in the world think that then i presume he must be a decent player and also better than our current left back Paul Robinson... Therefore i think he's a good signing :good:

I haven't claimed to rate him? I suspect you know his whole back catalogue from where he last scored a goal to where he took his last shit?

i know nowt about him

absolutely fcuk all

just like the folk saying he's a good signing

point proven

some folk on the internet who possibly know even less than you

you know when you go to buy something, does the vendor say 'here, buy this, its shit'

i'd be very pleased if he's as good as tony dunne but i'm not holding my breath

He's got to be half decent though if he's come through the Madrid youth system hasn't he? I also doubt Coyle would spunk ?2.5m on a left back that wasn't up to scratch. I understand where your coming from but with the options we've got at LB at the min, getting Barness back from retirement would be a good signing at the min!

I'd say he's a good signing on the basis that he's young and could potentially be a good player for us. We may be able to sell him for good money. He may still turn out to be a mistake, same goes for any player.

We could buy Andres Iniesta and say he's a great signing because of his past record and what we've seen but it doesn't mean he won't turn up at the Reebok and turn out to be a bag of shite.

There's a difference between good signing and good player, time will tell if he's either.

I certainly don't expect him to be taking Robinson's place in the team. I think he'd be eased in and hopefully become the player Coyle must think he can be.

I'm just happy it's a young could be rather than an old has been.

Back to the Subject, He's definitely signed. Just had confirmation.

I'll confess to not knowing much about Alonso, but an 'attacking wingback' and Petrov on the left will 'vastly improve us' are you mental? we will get torn apart.

Obviously Raul Bravo is the exception to the rule?

Christ almighty, I do. If hes not 20 times better its not money well spent
