I'm not sure that I "get" April Fools day. Is there a reason we do it? - is there only the British that do it? - do folk actually think it's fun?

Personally, I've always thought it's a bit of a Colin Hunt thing so whenever anyone starts with it, I give them my 01-April sucker punch story. There's usually an awkward moment's silence.
