January 10, 201214 yr Can anyone remember who our two strikers were that crossed in a carefully orchestrated manouvre designed to confused their Keeper. I'm sure of one, think I know the other
January 10, 201214 yr We were 2-0 up at the time and Seamus had already had a few close misses with long goal kicks caught on the wind. The first few of those were just misjudged kicks but with the game in the bag the crowd began to egg him on. The one that went in was undoubtedly intentional and Billy O'Rourke probably ought to have adjusted and been closer to his line. Tim Howard might have been shy about celebrating - McDonagh was not! I might be wrong but I think there were several phases of the game in which it was pissing with rain and the Burnley fans were on the Embankment getting soaked. December and January were good months in what otherwise was a very poor 82/3 season - leading to relegation. A few weeks before we'd beaten Blackburn 1-0 at home with a great Tony Henry free kick and there was a win at Oldham thrown in as well (our only away win that year).
January 10, 201214 yr Have i ever mentioned this was the first game i ever went to at burnden!! Was in the half empty great lever end with my old man and even 28 years on I remember so old fella sat next to us who was definately a burnley fan going "for fucks sake billy get a grip" and my fire was lit.

A few weeks before we'd beaten Blackburn 1-0 at home with a great Tony Henry free kick and there was a win at Oldham thrown in as well (our only away win that year). I remember quite a few games that season, Rudgies goal at Barnsley was a belter, was at the Watford league cup away game an evening kick off with 12 other brave bolton souls stood behind the net, gutted when Mcgovern notched the only goal in extra time to unbelivably take the game into extra time, late home that night and had to be up 6.30 the next morning , the Newcastle game was a cracker Tony Henry immense that day to send KK and the geordies home with the tail between the legs, for some unknown reason I cannot recollect the McDonagh goal, pretty sure I was there because I never missed a home game from 76 through to the Hull game many years later when many Bolton fans boycotted that game. We went down because Tony Henry was sold, that was the catalyst for the decline of BWFC over the next few years.
January 11, 201214 yr I was in the Manny Road that match and Ivan ran on the pitch and picked a delighted Jim McDonaugh up in the air
Was it 4-0 or -3-1?
Anyone know were i can find footage of this?
